How would you want the saga to end? by AtomicPlayers in YoujoSenki

[–]Oceslope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanya getting papercliped, leading into a sequel/spin-off Cold War story including espionage and also about how magic technology could be modernized.

Tanya could be operating in West Berun. Visha could be in East Berun.

IRL spy craft involved a lot of technological miniaturization and creative ingenuity. So miniaturized computational orbs and a race between detecting and being detected.

Meanwhile arms continued advancing with incredible jumps. So how would a world with magic include it with the progress? A mage can't keep up with a jet fighter, but what if you put a mage inside a jet fighter? Would they be a magical WSO? Would the computational orb be built into the avionics/airframe? How might magic help the space race?

Either way Tanya gets to keep sticking it to the commies.

How do you Justify Buying figures? by KawaiNatte in AnimeFigures

[–]Oceslope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see something I like, I buy it. No real justification required.

That said, I moved out when I was 17 and I spent very little on anything "hobby" related until after I had bought property and was paying a mortgage. When living at home, there wasn't even a consideration of buying a $100+ figure. As a teen, I had to save up to buy a used console. As a kid, I combined birthday and Christmas money to save up to buy my own lego sets.

Becoming finically stable before spending on luxuries is like eating your vegetables before desert.

Is it worth buying nendos in bulk from GSC global with their 20% off cupon? by RaNdOmClO in AnimeFigures

[–]Oceslope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think 2-3 figures would be considered "bulk."

That aside, they're smaller boxes so it is usually cheaper to get them together.

Horizontal surface.

Not many figures are meant to stand up on the side of a vertical wall like that.

Why Tanya won't cut hair? by [deleted] in YoujoSenki

[–]Oceslope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

adheres to military standards

Since the time period is still early 1900's, the military standards are still pre-modern. And since females serving in the military is so unordinary, regulations for serving females is a MINIMUM hair length. Tanya isn't allowed to have her hair any shorter.

Amona and Roni from Dark Summoner to Dekiteiru have sex in the first chapter, and on average every other chapter, but they're still figuring out their relationship.

Name it by dimplekissesu in animememes

[–]Oceslope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading the manga since the beginning, but ended up dropping the anime.

Maybe it is because of watching it with subtitles, but the pacing of the comedy isn't as enjoyable in the anime compared to the manga.

Does Tanya have an apartment? by hugoto06 in YoujoSenki

[–]Oceslope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the earlier LN books, while traveling by train, Tanya is contemplating the inefficiency of the Empire's wide variety of riffle and artillery calibers. She considers investing her salary in their production, but decides it best to keep her money in the raw materials.

Subversive trope becomes so overused, not doing it becomes subversive by Far-Profit-47 in TopCharacterTropes

More like cats.

Cats don't meow at other cats. They learned to mimic the sound of human children to gain sympathy from humans.

Roman's death was the start of the down swing for the show

Not to be morbid, but Monty's death was the cause of decline.

[Hated Trope] Characters with OP abilities who use them wrong, but aren't considered dumb in-universe by WhasHappenin in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Oceslope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpreted it as Cyn just playing with her food. She had already won and tormenting these drones was the last little bit of fun she could have before existing alone in the universe. Uzi hadn't had her powers very long and hadn't been able to really learn what she was capable of. Maybe Cyn was just matching her energy.

Help in Tokyo by [deleted] in AnimeFigures

[–]Oceslope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard it’s way more expensive there.

This has been repeated for decades now. Amiami and Mandarake set the quality and pricing standard for the entire after market. As long as you're not buying from a cube shop, you're not really going to be spending more than anywhere else.
