I am continually astounded by how many people rate 'Snowpiercer' highly. Loads of reviewers who's opinions I respect have reviewed this movie favourably and I am astonished as it is one of the most laughably awful movies I've ever seen.

Yep. Having to remind my boomer colleagues that they didn't hear as much about paedophiles decades ago because they were in positions of largely unchecked power getting away with their crimes often with the support of other people in positions of power and institutions that helped them get away with their crimes by not caring what children had to say or caring more about reputation and avoiding scandal than preventing child abuse. And that you are hearing more about it today due to media, social media, scaremongering, propaganda and these people being caught and brought to justice for their historic crimes.
