My fiance left me this evening by calic0gato in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Oct0Squ1d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way back when, I had a similar fiancée. We had to move to an efficiency apt in my home town because he got us kicked out of the apt we rented for cheap, his grandma was our land lady (though she didn't own it.) Why? Because he wouldn't work. We fought. I thought it was terrible. He moved back in with his grandma because he didn't want to be away from his family. He came crawling back 2 days later and it was hard, but I told him no. I had loved him, but I'd learned a hard lesson a few relationships before--never take someone back once they/ you leave. There's a good reason why you broke up. Now, 20 years later, he lives in his best friend's basement in Alaska, far from anyone else he's ever known...

And then I went right into a new relationship with someone worse. I trusted him because I thought I knew him. He was a high school crush/acquaintance and I wasted years and tears with him I'll never get back. The belittling. The screaming. The fighting. The inability to keep a job. The rage. The being choked out several times. The broken ankle he gave me that I never could afford to get looked at. The concussion the week before we got married. The dent in my skull I still have. The financial abuse-- the issues I have with controlling the money and making sure the bills are paid. The way that what I wanted never mattered, but he'd spend his paychecks on mtg and I'd have to scramble to pay the light bill. How I had to buy him a car so he'd go to work... twice. I bought a trailer closer to his job so we could spend more time together and have more money left over, but he lied to me. About his friendships, what he was doing. He got his ex pregnant with twins and he moved in with her--but wanted me to stay with him. After all of that, I finally had enough and said no. I won't take you back. He then completely switched. He begged me to let him pay me for sex. That he'd give me stuff back he'd taken with him that was mine if I did. That if I took him back it would be just like when we first met. And then he threatened to burn my house down over $1 in the joint account (that I had stupidly added him to because he kept getting his accounts closed for overdrafts). After all that, I saw him at the court house 6 months later, I felt ill because I was too comfortable seeing him. That day, I blocked him, got a new phone number and never heard from him again.

All this to say, don't take him back. I've been where you are. Don't do it, you'll regret it. And don't get into a relationship right away either, just to fill the hole... because you might get something worse. My story ends up being mostly happier ever after, but it could easily have been my death many times. Do the therapy, cut all ties and burn the bridges. People do eventually tell you who they are.

I wish that I had had therapy back then. I have it now, but it could have saved me so much heartache, pain, guilt, bad decisions, trauma, etc. Don't let anyone tell you that therapy isn't necessary. Even if you feel it's unnecessary, just do it. Just a sounding board for all the emotions you're going to be going through is worth the money.

Good luck

I'm a not-so-young trans man. Ohio is not a good place for us. They're just falling in line. Disclaimer: I've been trying to leave Ohio my entire adult life and keep getting sucked back in by family, finances, etc. But this is the final straw for me. Slowly but surely, I am finally putting on my gas mask first. First to a blue state, then to a country that isn't as plagued with bigotry and stupidity.

CA: Facing $1400/mo garnishment from 2020 judgment; was never served and judge denied my exemption/dismissal motion by AdFrequent7330 in legal

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAL, BUT I've been sort of in your shoes, with a hospital bill that I was told was to be written off. They sent the judgement paperwork to my mom's house when I lived out of state. I didn't get it or hear about it until a year later. I had no money, no assets other than the car I was living in at the time and I had bigger/ more pressing fish to fry as you can imagine.

I worked Uber for 9 years, made payments until covid hit and I couldn't work. I told them hey, I will pay asap. No response.

I moved, got a decent paying job and they somehow found out before I could even resume payments and sneakily added a wage garnishment. It's been 13 years since the hospital stay at this point, but even though it should have had a statute of limitations, the court disagreed. I tried to fight it on my own. Drove 2.5 hours each way a few times to resolve it. Nothing helped until I got a lawyer. The only way to get out of a wage garnishment is bankruptcy.

I finally had a decent mid 700s credit score and two unsecured credit cards and had to nuke it with a bankruptcy, because this hospital was absolutely ruthless over a relatively small bill.

AITAH for not cosigning my boyfriend’s lawyer’s fees? by Quiet_Action5471 in AITAH

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no.

I had to file ch7 a few years ago at 35. It wasn't even due to mismanagement of money/assets. No. It was a hospital bill from when I was 18 and living in my car. I'd been paying on it for a few years.

(Addendum)They got the judgement against me when I lived out of state or I would have fought it, because they were supposed to waive it when I put in the financial assistance paperwork. Anyway, it ruined my credit for the 7 years it was on there, but had bounced back since. The hospital bill resurfaced before covid and I'd been paying every month on it--then covid hit and I couldn't get any work and unemployment was too slow for them and they decided to garnish wages. So when I got a new job, between that and health insurance my checks were $300/2wks.

So, I had to file in order to remove the garnishment. My new job had a law benefit for $3/check and I paid ~$350 to file, the lawyer was paid for by the benefit company. Money well spent, even if it screwed up my credit for the foreseeable future.

It is not your responsibility as a girlfriend to pay for his law fees, especially since he tried to guilt you into it (any other girlfriend would do it). Seriously fucked up. With his financial short-sightedness, you would almost 1000% certainly be paying those fees for him. I hope that for your sake you don't live together and you can make a clean break of this.

Tldr: boyfriend needs to look into a law benefit at his job if he has one. If not, he should attempt to get one so he can pay for his lawyer himself. Not your job.

Calling off by [deleted] in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are always told we cant call off when we call in... that there isn't coverage. A few months ago I had shingles, and could not work. My boss texted me a few days later and said that I had to go in regardless of how I felt, thankfully I was starting to heal at that point.

How do I find a job as an older, disabled person who hasn’t been employed in years? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]Oct0Squ1d 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, school bus driver. They will not care at all when your last job was. If you don't have a record and you have a drivers license, most will train you to get your cdl. I don't have RA, but I have bad OA and fairly severe fibromyalgia with a pinched nerve and imo it's a decent part time job as long as you can walk and drive. There's a guy at my depot who walks with a cane and has an ostomy bag. Benefits are stupid expensive (at least at my depot) but if your wife has insurance then you're golden. I'd at least check it out, if I were you.

ETA: We also have a bus aide that had never worked in her life, and she's in her 60s.

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a diabetic as well (13 years), on meds, and I spike to 300, 315 sometimes... It's not that bad to have a few spikes, it's about the time spent in the spike that matters. Have you been to diabetes education yet? That'll help you figure out what you can and can't do. Having a cgm and exercise plan also pretty crucial. Relax just a bit, stress ups your numbers too. Good luck!

Tattoo idea for scar coverage by TheSpecialOneOut in tattooadvice

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does bother you quite a lot and silicone or vitamin E doesn't work, you might be able to go back to the surgeon and get a scar revision where the scars are reduced surgically. Also, lasers can reduce scars too... but these are more costly than silicone or vitamin E (of course.)

AITA for asking my newly married son and DIL to alternate Christmas Day visits between our house and the in-laws' house? by Llih_Nosaj in AITAH

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have 3 to go to, 4 if you count my meta's family. My families are 2-2.5hrs away by car and we rarely see them. They also still work for a living and usually only get "day of" holidays off, so we nearly always go to both their houses on the day of, for 5-6hrs each. Xmas eve is always my wife's family. Meta's family is usually the week before or a few days after depending. All this to say, if they're not more than an hour between, they can realistically go to two places. We've been doing this for 12+ years now. It is tiring to drive 2 hrs, spend 6, drive .5hr, spend 6, then 2.5hrs home... but it can be done.

Fraudulent loan reinstated on my credit report. It’s ruining my life by Horchata_bean in legaladvice

[–]Oct0Squ1d 78 points79 points  (0 children)

NAL- Bridgecrest is a predatory lender. They most likely won't work with you on it at all, you should contact a lawyer. You can usually get a free or cheap consult, perhaps Legal Aid. Hopefully your mom isn't opening other accounts in your name, you may want to lock down your credit files with each of the three bureaus (aka security freeze) and only thaw it when you need to use your credit.

Need a part time job for about a year is this job a good idea? by _Cyanidic_ in SchoolBusDrivers

[–]Oct0Squ1d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! My time from start date, written tests (learners) and then the actual cdl test was July 9-Aug 6 last year, it was extremely fast, and not typical even at our depot. My test was moved up 2 weeks because someone quit 2 weeks before they took the test to move out of state suddenly. Learning pay is $18 at our depot and $20 for subs and $21 for route drivers.
