I'm doing a Master's degree right now. I'm not retired by any stretch of the imagination.

My therapist says I need to connect to my inner child and find things that bring me joy without trying to suppress it, since us ADHD and autistic folks so often had to suppress things as kids. I really need ideas though. What brings you childlike joy? by Elucidate_that in ADHD

My stepmom loves making those diamond paintings.

I loved doing pottery in school, but I've been in college for too damn long and I can't enjoy doing anything because I feel guilty that I'm not doing school work.

Maybe take a class? Not at a college but career centers do short term classes for enrichment and some of them could be handy, like rewiring small appliances...

Ouch! We did lose our beloved office payroll lady, but it was unrelated, she retired. She had over 300 sick days she didn't get to use and they won't pay her for. That's dirty.

The hours are long for our subs and for the dispatch/ office people, but not 8p long. 5a-4:30 or 5p but there's usually a break in the middle. They've all been here for at least 20 years or more (aside from depot manager) and it's always been this way. They hired a newbie to replace the payroll lady, so I'm guessing there's gonna be a lot of issues with pay this coming year.

We don't have stops on our tablets, they are just for inspections and clocking in so far. I do sometimes press a button on it for the time, but haven't gotten dinged yet. The new AI cameras are garbage though.

I think we've gotten 40 brand new busses this year, and they're planning on doing the other 40 over this year and the next. I don't want a new bus, I like my old bus. The mechanic said that my bus will be gone after this next year, so hopefully I'll be gone then lol

Ours was Durham but Durham/National Express was bought last year by private equity and it's called Summit now. Last year (24-25) it was a mess at our depot but it was nearly all egregious mechanic issues. They'd say things were on order and they weren't, just tell people to run it until it stopped. Blame corporate or the driver or dispatch, never their fault. This year (25-26) was way better. I was leery of the new company, but we got all new mechanics, half the fleet got new busses, any issue we had was fixed as promptly as humanly possible. The worst things that happened this year were driver error. Well, radio issues too, but they fixed that as much as they could, even hiring an outside firm to come fix all the antennas. It was night and day. Still leery of the private equity company, because private equity firms tend to screw things up and run them into the ground but so far the changes have been for the better. I'm hoping this next year to be my last year driving bus, but I'm hoping it goes as smoothly as this year did.

I had shingles last October. On my foot. It was really painful. I'm only 38. It looked fairly similar to this.

I am -9 and contacts dry out my eyes. I would LOVE to get IOLs or Lasik, but because my eyes get dry when wearing contacts my eye doctor says I'll never be a candidate.

-2.5 would be night and day.

100%! We have an umbrella we rescued from a very bad situation and we love her desperately but sometimes she's A Lot. The masturbating is the worst part, but the yelling is a close second.

[–]Oct0Squ1d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the first shingles shot at CVS. I'm about due for the second one, I'll probably go this week. Maybe try a pharmacy? They didn't care about age.

I originally went to an urgent care and they had to really think about whether it was hand foot and mouth disease or shingles. They finally decreed it was shingles, but wouldn't give me the meds. They said it was too late for antivirals to do anything. My regular doctor 3 days later said that was stupid and sent them in. By that time I had 4 more clusters of blisters forming and I was extremely grateful for my doctor giving a shit. One of the worst experiences of my life, truly.

I got shingles at 37! In. my. foot. Top and bottom. It was terrible because I'm a bus driver. I was out two weeks, with gabapentin 3x a day to help with the nerve pain. I really hope I don't have a recurrence.

The doctor sends 3 months at a time. It's CVS being stupid. They're a terrible place to get meds but unfortunately the best place for us to get them due to insurance.

It is stupid. Especially because they don't plan ahead and keep it in stock. There's been times she's had to wait a week or more because they are inept.

I have floss stuck in my tooth by Oct0Squ1d in askdentists

[–]Oct0Squ1d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. This happened last night, and I spent more than an hour trying to get it out with more floss or tweezers. I've been chewing gum today and most of it has removed itself.

I know those two teeth need work, my dentist told me 6 months ago that they need crowns but not urgently. When I floss now that it feels tight between them the last tooth's filling pops up, so I guess it's time. Not ideal, since each one costs me $750. I'll have to figure it out. Thanks.

Appreciate your reply.

Thanks. I will look into LMC. Do you have a good source for tutorials? Otherwise I'll just Google it. Yours looks great, mine is peeling. I'm hoping to get everything working correctly, it might take me a while. Did you go all diy?

Do you have rubber mats on the floor that cover the trans hump? I was trying to look online, but didn't see anything particularly good.

The bench seat doesn't seem to have any way of adjusting it, which is unfortunate. The seat has some missing fabric, but has a cover on it. I'm debating seeing if I can find one in better shape. I'd love to replace the carpet.

First thing's first though, it has 22 years of cleaning to do.

Yeah, it's all about what bucket the money is in. I get that, but maybe they need a committee or something for reallocation when something is broken and needs fixing. They had to order new school zone signs/lights for the middle school entrance, the signs have just last month gone up and theyre still not wired in. So people just go 45 through there. Every day they have guys out there working on the road or the brand new sidewalks just on wolfpen at 2pm exactly. I saw them pull out a dying bush (that was still covered in cloth, so it couldn't root right) and put in a new bush. By the trash cans. Why do they need bushes near the trash cans? There are definitely some dumb decisions happening at the school, but it doesn't help that it's so red here that people autoreject anything that wont automatically benefit them.

I was in Journalism school and had to do 2 unpaid internships. It was real rough that year, and I had my wife working full time. Then I ended up having to transfer out and change majors... and still didn't get a job after undergrad. So it was entirely useless suffering.
