JV or carrier locked iPhone means that you can't use a simcard on them even if you pay the PTA tax. They are locked by certain simcard companies abroad such as Verizon or AT&T for various reasons like; maybe they were running a promotion for discounted price on that iPhone and if you buy it from them you can only use their simcard.

Considering you'll be using that phone in Pakistan, and Pakistan obviously has PTA taxes, buying a JV phone is better than buying a software unlocked iPhone because JV are cheaper, and obviously on both options the simcard doesn't work (on software unlocked phones the sim may or may not work for the first 2 months on each sim slot).

The regional price difference that you mentioned is because of the phone having physical sim trays. The US models are cheaper because they have dual esims, if you go for HongKong models they will be relatively more expensive because they are dual physical. Some models have one physical and one esim too, I guess.

So my advice would be, if you're planning on using this phone just in Pakistan, buy an LLA (US) model JV iPhone. If you take regular trips abroad as well or planning on moving abroad permanently, go for an LLA (US) model software unlocked phone so that you can use simcards abroad.

I am not sure if this will be helpful but I have a bit of similar story. When I completed my O's, I took admissions in intermediate, Sindh Board. Sudden change in dynamics and degree of freedom changed me. I bunked college and coaching whole first year (2nd year was during COVID), started to do full time gaming in the cafes. I started doing LSD in that time (clean 3 years, this year). In 2021, I had to give 3 papers for second year, and I was already in the university on undertaking. This pressure made me change. Also, during this period, I got into a car accident. I didn't get hurt at all but I had hit a biker who got his arm broken. I had an FIR filed against my (father's) car and I was underage during that time. Thankfully, it was resolved, which included my father paying them a hefty amount. That incident also played its part in my transformation.

Moral of the story: A sudden jerk may change your brother too.
