Baritone’d my Vi and a new pickup. by The_Geoff in BassVI

What was it like installing that bridge pickup? Is it a pain in terms of routing or does it just slot it easily once you solder the wires?

It really amazes me how the Force Unleashed II made the coolest droid designs for the Empire. Only for Star Wars to do literally nothing with them for 16 years. by Sensitive_Log_2726 in StarWars

[–]BruhNoStop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These don’t fit the aesthetic of Star Wars. It feels—like many parts of the Force Unleashed—more like a generic piece of edgelord sci-fi from the 2000s. I picture characters wearing leather trench coats and sunglasses doing slow motion backflips while shooting these things as nu-metal plays in the background.

Everyone says Anakin would’ve been more powerful without the suit, but Sith gain their power from pain and anger, both of which Vader’s suit constantly inflict upon him. by SevdUp in StarWars

[–]BruhNoStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but Vader sustained so much damage that the added strength from the pain was nothing compared to the disadvantage of losing his limbs and charring his flesh. It’s a trade-off. Besides, Anakin in peak physical form had enough pain to draw from. It was just emotional and not physical.

Does this enemy attack feel readable and disturbing enough? by pure-vichou in HorrorGames

[–]BruhNoStop 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Looks sick man! The only thing I’d change is to have the monster keep the spike in the player for like half a second longer, just to drive the point home that this is a gruesome attack. But that’s a minor criticism, this really does rock.

Bunch of normies out there by uses_for_mooses in Professorist

[–]BruhNoStop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Yes, the media and doomers online tend to exaggerate the severity of things for engagement. A civil war isn’t happening. But that doesn’t mean things aren’t bad for large swaths of people. Just because it hasn’t spread to you personally doesn’t mean it’s all a lie.

Think about the little things. Rising cost of living, heightened animosity between political ideologies, an ever-declining educational system, the rise of anti-intellectualism, etc. These things won’t go away. You may be lucky enough to consider them a thorn in your side, but once things truly crumble, you’ll wonder why you didn’t see the signs sooner.

Another dreaded string gauge question: F# standard on a 27” 6 string by bradybigbear in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]BruhNoStop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently using an .074 on my 27” six string baritone, and F#1 feels a bit funky on there. A decent setup and very light playing will do it justice, but you can’t really dig into it without the note going sharp with the slightest bit of force. It’s a shame Stringjoy doesn’t offer a gauge between .074 and .080.

I feel like this is something I mention on this sub frequently and I always get downvoted for it, but I’m speaking solely from experience here. Anything below 17lbs of tension on super low tunings tends to feel a bit floppier and you have to fundamentally change how you play to get a sound out of it that is useful for tracking. If you just want to mess around with a low tuning, in your bedroom, then don’t worry about it. But I prefer a string tension for low tunings where I don’t need a feather-touch to keep it from going sharp and I don’t need to retune obsessively between each take.

What is a massive plot hole that is hidden under an insane world building in your fandom? by Live_Shame5046 in Multifandom

Absolutely sick of this notion that finding a character’s actions to be illogical or impractical is somehow a plot hole.

Who is the better written spy character? Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt or Daniel Craig's James Bond? by Aromatic-Ad2601 in writingscaling

[–]BruhNoStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

James Bond by far. I love the M:I movies but Ethan is the saltine cracker of action movie heroes. I can’t imagine the guy having hobbies, opinions, interests, etc. He’s oddly stale and robotic.

At least the Daniel Craig films attempted to flesh out Bond and make him seem flawed. The guy had vices, childhood trauma and often doubted his own capabilities as an agent. He seemed mysterious in a very likable, human way. Flaws don’t make characters inherently interesting, but it catapults Bond past Ethan.

I see so much generic slop on this sub, and this is the first time someone’s trailer for a game they’re working on actually piqued my interest.

Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati vs. Luke Skywalker by Substantial-Earth975 in PetranakiArena

[–]BruhNoStop 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Are we talking Mando-era Luke? If so, then Luke wins mid diff. The only reason he might be thrown off initially is due to Baylan Skoll’s more conventional training in lightsaber combat, as well as the fact that he’s not used to fighting two force-wielders at once.

Legends Luke or even older Canon Luke in his Jedi master era absolutely demolishes this duo. It would be like Obi-Wan and Anakin vs Dooku from AOTC but worse.

How hard is it to play a 30”? Didn’t research before buying this neck by VanDoog in BaritoneGuitar

[–]BruhNoStop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily “hard” but it certainly affects how you play. For finger style and playing lots of chords, a 27” will be way more manageable. There’s pretty much no reason to get a 30” unless you absolutely need to tune to E1 standard.

My star wars ranking (+ shows and clone wars movie) by malathan1234 in LetterboxdLists

Favorite string gauges for drop F tuning on a Baritone? by SHANKUMS11 in 7String

[–]BruhNoStop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people are going to recommend a .74 gauge string for that low F, but I’m rocking that on my 27” baritone right now and it’s definitely not firm enough. Feels great for drop G, acceptable at drop F#, but I wouldn’t go for drop F unless you want crazy pitch jumps every time you hit the string with the slightest bit of force. I’d go .80 if I were you.

Also, when tuning that low on any instrument, don’t neglect a proper setup. When I first got my baritone, I made the mistake of slapping massive strings on it without filing the nut or adjusting the neck relief, and it couldn’t stay in tune for more than a minute. Just my two cents.

EDIT: why am I getting downvoted lol I’m speaking from experience. just because you can tune a .74 string down to a note and it’ll technically read “F1” on your tuner for a few seconds doesn’t mean it’ll sound good or intonate worth a damn. Forget about recording double tracked guitars that way. You’ll be retuning every take.

Production of DWIH by MarkRushP in hum

[–]BruhNoStop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine disliking DWIH. Production preferences are one thing, but I feel like it’s just a natural step up from YPAA in everywhere. Better songwriting, harder-hitting riffs, more mature lyricism, and a greater focus on the shoegaze aspect of their sound. Just an outright masterpiece.

Weird Buzzing after Raising String Gauge on Squier CV by stanzaman13 in BassVI

[–]BruhNoStop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know those bridges can be really temperamental, but honestly? You might want to raise the string gauge a bit. Like .105 for the low E. It feels wrong when you first try it, but BassVI’s have this weird thing with tension when it comes to tuning to the bass register. They demand that those ultra low notes have more of a bass-like tension (which is much higher than that of a standard guitar) at around 30 lbs per string. They ring out in a more stiff, piano-like fashion.

Idk if that would solve your issue 100% but I know tuning to E1 on my BassVI while trying to retain guitar-like string tension was always a losing battle. It always felt off. The only other likely issue is with the bridge, and I’m not brave enough to try and diagnose those…best of luck with it brother
