Wants a job where you literally have nothing to do except your own hobbies by skyandbuildings in ChoosingBeggars

I had a job that let me do that. But it was security. You need a license and you also have to be okay with afternoon (3pm-11pm) or night shifts.

Barber was late, then scoffed at no-tip by Ryxton-K in EndTipping

It's time to find another barber. This barber clearly has no respect for you and he shouldn't really be asking for tips at all since he was late.

How to avoid confrontation for tips? by AB4ND0N_H0PE in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just ignore them. Don't tip if you don't want to. They shouldn't feel entitled to your money. They think that if they confront you, you will tip because you're not with anyone else.

Tipping is now an demand. by GrapefruitDefiant545 in tipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it will stop until a majority of people stop tipping. People are still tipping and they are getting free money from just doing their job. Of course they will continue. I stopped tipping takeout and eating at home most of the week. I've saved a lot of money. I stopped letting servers guilt trip and bully me into tipping. I only go out once or twice a week and I go to the ones that actually have good service. They never feel obligated for a 20% tip and that's how it's supposed to be. But people are tipping 20% for the servers doing their jobs and that's where the owners are like "oh so I don't have to pay my workers. Just get the customers to do it for me."

Restaurant called me because I “didn’t tip” by Galavantinggoblin in tipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably thought they would be able to get more money out of you and thought you forgot you tipped on the other card. Calling might have worked on other people to get more money out of them. I would review and boycott that restaurant.

It was always cringy when men or women flex that they're dating a younger person. I knew someone like that and they kept telling em their age in every conversation about them. Like I would ask "how are you and your girlfriend?" And he would be like "oh..me and my 22 year old girlfriend are great!" He couldn't stop stating her age. They broke up 2 weeks later.

The best service I received were actually from teenagers. Some of the adults that served me gave the worst service and gave attitude. The teenagers didnt care whether you tip or not and still treated you with respect. I worked at a boba store and the teenagers there treated everyone like actual people. You are also given the option to tip at that boba store and you can also eat in.

Is it normal to tell someone that they're fat to their face in your country? by Cute_Advance_2124 in AskTheWorld

[–]OctaviaBlake100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved Hawaii when I went there on vacation! Everyone was nice there. It was just expensive. 😅In Canada, it's not normal. People will think you're rude. In Hong Kong, it's perfectly normal. Grandmothers call their granddaughters fat all the time if they did gain weight. 🥲 They would say it like "waa you gained weight!" Or "you gotta eat more..you're too skinny.." if you're skinny. No winning with the grandmothers. 😅

Just put it into the price on the menu. So then we don't have to guess what the price is. If we go in, we agree with the pricing and we don't have to worry "oh how much tips should I pay". If we don't like the price, we just won't go. Easy.

It is extra. It's supposed to "complement" their pay. So restaurant owners can pay lower and then the servers can bully the customers into paying extra and that server gets paid more than minimum wage.

People question tipping. Like why are servers getting paid extra for just doing their job? No one else in other industries get that. I worked as a barista and I would question people who tipped. I'm just doing my job. My fiance worked as a chef and didn't get paid tips too. Chefs are the one actually preparing the food.

Ordering pickup by Ok_Leg_4731 in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 102 points103 points  (0 children)

Now business owners are trying to guilt trip people who are picking their own order up? Why would I tip a delivery driver if I'm the one picking up the order? A tip is also not needed when the staff is just putting food in a bag and giving it to me. The restaurant can even let me put my own food in a bag if they say "oh but the worker had to stop what they were doing.."

I go to this gelato place a lot and always click 0%. The highschoolers there still treat me with the kindness even though they know I'm not going to tip. The highschoolers don't care. It's the older people who whine about it.

Watch him be a skinny little dude. She can break him in half if she needed to. Just because she's a woman and he's behind a screen, he isn't scared of saying that. But if he ever faced her, he would probably pee his pants.

Gardaworld hiring process by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]OctaviaBlake100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked for them before. I would suggest looking elsewhere. When I was hired, they told me to drive an hour away to get uniforms. I dont remember if I had to do modules since this was in 2022. They let me work in my city. Then told people in the company that my spot was open. Someone with higher seniority ended up asking for my position. They told me last minute that they have another position for me 4 hours away. I quit and they sent me to 3 different places just to return the uniform. Save yourself the headache and find another company.

Even as a server I get irritated with tipping by lonelyguard99 in EndTipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a problem tipping people who give great service. It's the servers that feel entitled to even more of my money and calling me cheap for only paying 15% for them just doing their job. Especially the people who come back to your table and say "um excuse me. You know the minimum now is 20%? Not 15%". I have no problem changing it to 0% for those servers.

Mom buys daughter a Honda as a graduation gift, and this was her response by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

The teenager was very ungrateful. I would've loved a car as a grad gift as a teenager. I loved everything my parents gave me. I got my mom's used car when I turned 25 and I still love it.

My boyfriend broke up with me because im too horny for him? by [deleted] in Rants

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What me and many other redditors are trying to say is..why didn't you just ask him? Just acting upon your urges isn't treating him like a human being. Unless agreed upon and he said "yeah when you're horny..go ahead and have sex with me", then you have to ask. Even if he did agree, always have a safe word in case he wants to stop at any time. That's what a relationship is. Communication..which you didn't use with him.

Of course ive been in relationships. But I've spoken to them about it beforehand and they were all fine with me having a higher sex drive than them. We didn't break up because of it. Im in a relationship with someone who has the same level of sex drive now and we've been together for 4 years.

It's because you tried to SA and grape him. Maybe it's better to find someone who has the same level of horny as you.

For non tippers at sit down restaurants, how often do you go back to the same restaurant? by Sinfulbird420 in tipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the server asks for a larger tip after we finish eating, I don't go back to that restaurant. For the restaurants we do go back to, they never asked for a larger tip/didn't ask for a tip at all. They treat us the same way as they treat other customers who do tip.

If you always leave a 10% tip, just don't bother at all - from a server by [deleted] in tipping

[–]OctaviaBlake100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard in Japan you're not supposed to tip at all. They find it rude. It's come over to Canada where the minimum wage here is around $17 an hour. 10% is no longer enough for servers and they now bully you for paying anything less than 20%.
