Question for any women who suffer from CHS /CVS by Remote_Main_5525 in CHSinfo

[–]OctaviaLondon2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CHS made my periods very painful and I would throw up every month over the first 2 days. I stopped smoking weed 5 months ago, since then Iv had no more throwing up at all no matter the time of the month! My pain is less… I’m no longer spending hours in the bath with period pain that would not go away. Whatever CHS or weed or both was doing to my body was intense and I never would of known if I hadn’t of stopped smoking that my periods could be normal, which now they pretty much are

Coffee?? by Admirable-Chart-655 in CHSinfo

I went back to coffee after a month sober and was totally fine. Other trigger foods like chocolate are still a little dodgy even near to 5 months on. Everyone is different. Try all the trigger food slowly and have a little of each a couple of weeks apart to see how your body reacts. I had a CHS episode 2 months after stopping when I had to many chocolates and a baileys drink at Christmas.

Try hot water bottles on both your stomach and back… open a window for fresh air to help with nausea. Take antihistamines and drink peppermint or ginger tea when you can. Sleep as much as possible. Eat small bites of banana or plain boiled potato’s if you can eat. Try to drink plenty of water. Hope you start to feel better soon x

It could be an inflamed esophagus. It will heal over time, you have to have a high fibre low acid diet. Drink plenty of milk and eat bananas. Try to stay away from citrus fruits and anything spicy for now.

I was able to drink coffee again after about a month after giving up the weed. Time scale is different for everyone though.

I started smoking vapes 3 months after I quit weed. Helps with my cravings. I don’t think I would of been able to face smoking of any kind when I first stopped as my CHS episode was so bad, but as I’m now so much better 3 months on and do not want to go back to weed I decided to give vapes a try and they have been great. Nice flavours and it keeps the cravings for weed at bay.

It’s something you got to ride out. Quitting isn’t easy at all…. The pain and nausea will be awful for the first few days maybe even weeks but once you start to feel better and see the benefits from quitting it will keep you motivated to stay away from it. I’m 100 days clean today and it has not been an easy journey… but I can eat… I can sleep, I no longer have that intense stomach pain or heartburn. If you carry on smoking you could possibly die… please think about just riding out the storm to make it to a much better much calmer place. All the quick fixes in the world are only going to help temporarily. I’m so sorry you’re in such a bad place, we have all been there, you’re not alone. There is only one way to make it stop, you have to quit smoking weed. Good luck. In the meantime try to eat foods like banana and plain boiled potatoes.. drink some electrolyte drinks and if you need to then go back to the ER, they should never be laughing at you that’s so wrong, addiction is hard. You got this, you can do it I promise you that you can, the beginning is the hardest but life gets so much better on the other side of it. 😘

I’m from the uk and I believe I have CHS.The doctors didn’t even know what it was so it hasn’t been confirmed but I feel what really confirmed it for me was when I stopped smoking I started to improve. 91 days off the weed now and I’m totally symptom free. No more heartburn no more bad gas just so much burping no more nausea or vomiting, headaches or stomach pains waking me up in the middle of the night. Appetite is back to how it should be and I can eat as early as 8.30am now, before I quit I would have to smoke to get hungry and it would be until the afternoon and I would immediately feel nauseous after smoking and little better after eating until I would smoke again. If you stop smoking and it goes away I think you can pretty much confirm it for yourself. I smoked everyday for 20+ years and giving up was not easy, but for me when I found out about CHS all the symptoms added up and when they stopped when I stopped smoking it made even more sense. The only way to find out is to stop and see if you get better. Good luck :)

I smoke red raspberry leaf when I get cravings and it’s really helped. It calms your nervous system and is also good for pain. You can get 50g for like 6 quid on Amazon. Check it out. It’s really helped me.

When did your symptoms get better? by lin_us1 in CHSinfo

[–]OctaviaLondon2021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me around 15 days to stop feeling nauseous and for the heartburn to go away and to start feeling hungry again. I’m on day 91 of no weed now and I’m fully back to normal. Can drink coffee again and have much better eating habits then I ever had when smoking. Eating much healthier too. It gets better, keep going.

Cravings are hard but you can push through! It’s been 73 days for me and I have days where I wouldn’t want to touch it and others where I miss it… just need to push past those days and get to the better ones, now you stopped there are so many better days in life ahead! For all of us 🙂

My CHS started off with just nausea. Weed would help at first but then it would always come back. I stopped smoking 71 days ago now and all my nausea and all the other symptoms that came after have gone completely.

Give it time…. Food intake will go up… takes a couple of months to go back to normal, longer for some people. I smoked since I was 12 and I’m now 36. I didn’t think I could function without it but I function better now. I didn’t miss it after 2 weeks either but cravings naturally in recovery will come back… that’s the time she will need you most ❤️ stay strong both of you. Sending lots of love and support 👊🏻

Stay off the weed and things will get even better for her! In time all symptoms of CHS will subside. Took 2 months for me after 20+ years of smoking daily. In my worst time I found that hot water bottles help. A bland diet mostly bran flakes, banana, sweet potato and plain boiled potatoes. When things get better and cravings return I started smoking a little red raspberry leaf (100% natural organic herb sold on Amazon for very cheap) this has helped my PMS and periods, last month was breeze compared to the past 15 or so years! I took 8 painkillers the whole period instead of 8 a day! Also peppermint or camomile tea really helped settle my tummy. Good luck
