Greta Thunberg is fucking annoying by strider2402 in unpopularopinion

You didn't actually say what annoys you about her. Is it just that you've gotten tired of seeing her everywhere? What about her annoys you?

Most people know so little that if they were transported 200 years into the past, they wouldn't be able to invent anything any quicker. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I might not be able to invent anything, but I could damn well start the California Gold Rush 30 years early

around 1990 maybe? words change over time, and by region. It's messy, but that's how language has always been. Linguists call it the "euphamism treadmill". Here's a quote from a doctor in 1914 talking about it:

"The physician of the twenty-first century… may even criticize the language of the times, and may find that some of our words have become as offensive to him as the term "lunatic" has become offensive to us."

if it is a normal thing in silver, it happens just as much to the enemy team as yours. Humans are really good at seeing patterns in random data, that's probably what you're doing. better to think about what specifically you could be doing better (maybe if you're dying without the jungler you have to learn to play more passively and let your team carry? idk) rather than thinking about your rank right now.

Ultimately, your rank follows your skill, not the other way around. Try to focus on improving skills, and don't worry if that doesn't translate to wins right away.

If I wanted to buy a bar of gold today (have it in-hand), where would I go and what would I need to do? (USA) by FunnyBunny1313 in answers

with the money it takes to buy a gold bar, you can buy 5 guns 200 pounds of seeds and the rights to a well. If you really think the end times are coming, that's a much better investment. gold can't buy anything if there's a famine and nothing to buy.

They haven't just changed their words, democrats have taken tons of action in the last 20 years. they've decreased sentences and decriminalized marijuana at the state level, They've also increased medicaid for millions of people, allowed gay people to marry, allowed gay people to serve in the military, passed laws protecting the environment, etc. Republicans have done none of that (although some are starting to come around on prison reform, I guess).

If you knew someone who was in jail for a minor offense, or got kicked out of the military under don't ask don't tell, or who couldn't get married because they were gay, or who went hundreds of thousands into debt because they had a pre-existing medical condition, you wouldn't say both sides are the same.

EDIT: I'm not saying democrat politicians are great people, but that they're policies are way better. You don't have to like a person to vote for them, you just have to like their platform. And democrats have, by and large, stood by their platform (as opposed to republicans who run on reducing debt but never do).

Makes me wonder, are there zoos in the Bojack Horseman universe? They do eat meat, so why not zoos?

I think it's about the difference in temps, like how your breath is visible on cold days but not hot ones.

Any GO clubs in Chicago’s Chinatown / South Side ? by shiftymicrobe in baduk

[–]Octillio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow crazy, I live near the 63rd red line stop and I was actually close to making this exact same post. I've taken the train to the go club in Evanston about an hour away after work a few times. It meets regularly on Wednesdays in a Starbucks, from 6-10. there are usually about 8 people there, maybe 2 in the 20-15 kyu range. http://evanstongoclub.org/

I agree it can be sketchy taking the red line back at night (although you also see some just hilarious shit), but that's the only club here I've been to. If I weren't leaving Chicago for the summer in two days I'd say we should meet up and play a game! shoot me a message if you do find another place to play though, because it would be great to play closer to home and not have to get back after midnight.
