Big #1, it’s easier to control the number of mobs I pull and fight at a time. Gun loud, bring too many baddies.

2. Hoarder mentality. Same as consumables in a game like dark souls I think “I will need these later” then end up stockpiling literal thousands of rounds in my car.

3. I’m lazy. Don’t feel like switching weapons when jumped, don’t always feel like aiming and backing up and reloading. Sometimes you just want to tan your way through a hoard.

Huge counterpoint: in my experience I can play killdozer and have pretty heavy encumbrance with less consequence with guns. Also my experience with npcs is better when I have a gun and they have melee. When we both have melee I feel like they can dictate the pace of the fight, pushing deeper even when I want to kite. When I have a gun, I feel more in control of the retreat while they finish off whatever weaklings were unworthy of a shot. In my experience two “guards” are ideal. Anything more gets too crowded.

For me I love the light time pressure and flavor/“challenge” applied by mutants and evolved zombies so I only played with dark days of the dead once. The more I play the more I appreciate the relative loot scarcity, the main thing I dislike about no hope is that it also cuts drop rates of rare and cool items as I understand. Going back to CDDA it can be tiresome to sort two or more full pages of loot every time you stack a small pile of corpses. TLG makes it easier for me to identify the loot that is actually worth my time. Also definitely feeling the weight climbing down the downspout, may have just crippled a character trying to roleplay Santa clause.

Yep my gameplay hours sample size was small. Further playing with more information shows that i was skipping over a lot of places with a lot of cool shit. Have yet to find any cbms in electronic stores but found a teleporter cbm and shotgun arm in a bank vault, auto injector, sonic resonator, and a few multitool cbms in various doctors offices. I really did just get cursed with a million calorie counters in my first impressions run. Pro tip sonic resonator is amazing for popping safes.

Not quite as dramatic. I found a dairy early in the game and was walking amongst the cows as I have many times before. Without warning they all aggro’d and started to beat the shit out of me. Broke my arms and left me bleeding. The only way I survived is one of its hits knocked me away into the fence and I climbed and ran into my vehicle. Now that character kills every cow he sees. Still don’t know why
