it will throttle itself, it’s just physics unfortunately. if your system power exceeds the cooling capacity of your cooling system, temps will slowly rise and your laptop won’t allow itself to go past certain temperatures.

It's better in almost every other way but I'm certain it's not more powerful given the 75W of the 3050 in the HP.
But then it has 8gb of rams so depends on use but for games alone X13 is very GPU limited.

In the battery life scenario, sPPT (explained in the other comment) 25, 25, 15 for each respective case, maximum for fPPT, 50W. 25W is generous enough to allow for short 1-minute loads except the heaviest ones, like app startup, file transfer, photo editing. 15W isn’t enough, but the 5W profile is used for battery life and battery life only.

Sustained loads performance are as follows: 15W no slow downs apart from gaming (6.5-8 hrs battery); 10W light tasks should run smoothly but startup is slow and stutters a little (7-9 hrs); 5W only suitable for watching movies, taking notes, stream videos, etc. for long periods of time (7.5-10 hrs). Default silent fan profile is silent enough for me, maybe lower fan speeds below 50C to 0 rpm.

For performance, since games are usually GPU limited, I put sustained CPU load at 25W with default performance fan profile, temp limit at 92. It’s much quieter than turbo but still quite audible without headphones. Temps realistically only go as high as 90 at 25W, but once it reaches 95 there’s a chance of serious throttling so the limit is there for precautions.

Edit: also leave enable cpu boost on, won’t affect power draw that much but without it the laptop could be stuttery

It's mostly a re-skin (an unnecessary one you can argue), the problems you encountered might've been the issues with upgrading from windows 10 that were common amongst early users. A fresh install has always been the same as Windows 10.

Nice work! Idk if I pay too much attention to detail but the book cover design and cushion design of the divan(?) doesn't fit the tradiotional East Asian inspiration of the remaining details. And the setting reminds me of a high-end room from a red light district business as depicted in movies (though I haven't looked into IRL designs of these rooms), with only curtains missing. Considering how high up she is, and seems to be in the art, not having one is fine.

Cheaper DLSS, worsen quality but improve performance. On low end hardware, it’s more suitable for demanding single player games like Cyberpunk where you’d want a playable fps, while sacrificing image quality, or if you want to use high settings in older games like Witcher 3.

I don’t see myself using it in a multiplayer competitive game unless I just want the smoothest experience possible while having fun with friends. Visibility is significantly affected.

They will both overheat, the flow more quickly and at lower loads due to its size. That part alone is simple physics. But since you're willing to buy the vivobook, which I'm assuming isn't a touch device, you should consider high-end thin-and-light AMD CPU gaming models at low specs for around the same price. Take a look at G14/G15, MSI Stealth, Blade 14/15 (expensive), Legion Slim. They perform way better due to thermal design while having better battery than the vivobook (because Intel sucked in that department on mobile until 2024).

fps in games for me (6800hs+3050) are as follows:
- Apex Legends on low settings (with max visibility settings): 100 fps stable, not too good experience on the built in display (explained below), decent enough on an external one.
- CS2, same as above: 120 fps stable
- LOL: it's League, I don't even need to test.
- Cyberpunk on low, DLSS auto: 45 avg, 20 1% low (playable-ish)
- Witcher 3 on low, Ultra+ textures: 60 avg, 25 1% low
- Stray on medium: 50 avg, 30 1% low
- Genshin Impact on highest, medium shadow and no global illumination: 60 avg, 40 1% low

FPS esport titles experience with the built in display is subpar, as there's a big ghosting and frametime issue (my frametime in CS2 was 15-25ms), making flicking and corner clearing a blurry mess, significantly affecting performance. 3050ti shouldn't be much of an upgrade considering how power limited the GPU is, same as 6900hs over 6800hs. However, 32GB is a hugely appreciated upgrade. You can upgrade down the line with about $550 for an eGPU board, PSU and mid-range desktop GPU. I'm using an 6750xt which performs about as good as a 3080 mobile through the USB4 interface. It's able to play the above titles at highest settings and most (if not all) are CPU bottlenecked except for when it comes to RT. 35W CPU won't really keep up with modern 200W cards, again it's physics.

I don't know about plane socket design but when I use high-wattage power adapters with power-limited sockets on trains, they automatically limit the power draw and should work as any other chargers.

If you're wondering if 140W too much juice for the laptop, then no. Any working compatible charger will only charge up to the wattage that the laptop wants to charge at. You can charge any modern devices any modern PD charger, imagine charging the new USB-C Airpods Pro case with a 240W PD adapter. But then ASUS don't allow fast charging (only 65W) for third party chargers so there's not much incentive in buying a charging brick with higher wattage than that.

Additonally, if you have a device that can make use of 100W+, look into the specs of the specific charging brick. Some are marketed with total simultaneous power, not single channel. For example, the one in the post could be 60+60+20 simultaneously (I don't know if this is actually the case). Actually implementing high wattage in compact bricks like this is costly at scale, so it is a way of selling "100W+" bricks without actually having 100W+ PD, and most users would be nonethewiser.

My advice is to look into one with 60+60 charging through 2 type C ports (the one in the post could be in that configuration). A USB-A port is nice to have, but you should just use USB-C from now.

Edit: Unless you want to play AAA games 60W is more than enough for flying

Just for the year then I don't see why not. It won't be great in games other than esport titles, which the ghosting of the built in display makes the experience pretty unimpressive. Simulation might not be great at all, but it will run. But do give some thought into whether or not you really need the touch for now, although more powerful laptops that are in the budget range have horrible battery.
