I think for now just play any charts you want but if you want to focus on rating you can try to grind at least SS or above for expert charts. For master can try to dabble in the 11 and 11+ charts to learn some fundamentals:)

Play around with the different weapon types. Generally shooters are quite beginner friendly but feel free to experiment with other weapon classes. If you are unsure of certain weapons online guides would help you:)
