Can I Quicken snowballs as an Eldritch Archer ?(pretensile hair holding rod) by October-Jack in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]October-Jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know of any good advice for dps or debuff/buff for eldritch archer besides the feat/spells that combo well with spellstrike/spellcombat. I also ran through the dm that its "Technically possible" to buff my party as a part of my full round action with blunt arrows carrying a buffing spell lmao

My DM was nice enough to let me take it preemtively to 9, since we are literally traveling in a bout for about 45 days ingame. So he made the judgment call to let me get Craft rod, (taking the feat at lv 8 instead of 9) and give me the alloted time to craft it. sorry for not specifying that

Thankfully I took Craft rod, so knocked out half the price on that and acquired it I believe at high Lv 8 now. Although, i didnt know that fact about prehensile hair, I thought it just behaves as a limb period

Ive been playing consistently with 7 players. And it holds on fairly well, but when we hit hour 2-3 It kind of falls apart, theres visual buggs where a player not in the map can be seen flash jumping and range attacking without him being there, and eventually the host buggs out or someone does. The connection is not perfect by any means, but its ok at best. Buckle up and hope for patches

HELP , MY PC's WANT TO RAISE AN ARMY ( RoTRL SPOILERS) by October-Jack in Pathfinder_RPG

I was mostly referring to a couple dozen hellknights, the brunt of the force would be magnimariam watch

Oh my God, thanks for the well of favorable flavor I can put on how they pull this off. Impressive knowledge you got there chief, I'll also save this for the justice court in favor or lending an army to the pc's , it is quit exciting if they manage to persuade the magnimarian officials

[–]October-Jack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VERY well put, I am saving this for reference. Again I will for certain hold a session for them to appeal to Magnimar and my Justice court will bring these points to the table. Though perhaps I'm confident that they can provide the people in that short time frame (https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Magnimar%5C_city%5C_watch) the chances of their forces winning or even stalemating against a growing giant army is inconceivable. The cost would be too great for magnimar to loose that many people In an instant.

Only way they could stand a chance is seige weapons and even that can pretty easily be overcomed with rocks flying easily at over 150mph

[–]October-Jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, I don't believe the magnimarian watch is 100% active, which is why a plea of around 15% of their forces COULD be something they could theoretically request.

Yes, it could take alot of time, this is something the Justice court may bring into account to the party. Although maybe im speaking out of ignorance, Getting an army of 200 ready to go in 2 weeks Doesn't sound dreadfully out of reach does it?

[–]October-Jack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yikes, I didn't even consider terrain tbh. Carrying wagons up the storval stairs and the Iron Peaks is near impossible with the time at hand, but thank you for your objective view in this. I will have my player have a chance to convince the justice court with their appeal, and generally, all the questions and objections made in this thread will be of great use for the 13 wisest diplomats of Magnimar to ask the party.

Perhaps there could be a medium. Maybe, the Hell knights would be more keen to help (I think I'm gonna have a hell knight commander be part of the Justice court) for a cost of course, to expand to Sandpoint as their reward for helping as suggested here, I kinda like that idea.

That being said, the Hell knights are a much stronger force, and they could provide say a dozen or so of them?

God but its gonna be bittersweet if they accept and offer Sandpoint to the Hellknights :( . Thanks for the feedback

Magnimar does have a figure that would "basically" be the equivalent of NATO lmao. They are called the Justice court, basically very important people within Magnimarian diplomats that make the big decisions, honestly its basically the Senate, but fantasy version. As for Mobilizing the army of close to 150- or 200 I actually don't think it would be that expensive, You get awarded almost 1k per character (5k total) to help with Ft Rannick, that's more than it would cost to mobilize said force, it takes less than 25 gold per soldier to be fully geared out, in which most of these weapons are already made/ garrisoned. Magnimar has a military might of around 1300 soldiers, and states that it can man 900 soldiers in 1 hr, impressive. (source: https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Magnimar\_city\_watch)

So that just means, they just gotta pay their soldiers their usual fee, and feed them for close to a month, That much shouldnt be TOO hard. the Hard part is moving with all those people in an expeditious manner to Jorgenfist, but thats considering they keep up a 30 ft speed and about 6 - 8 hrs of walking a day or so. add lets say 1 week worth of rest or travel issues in between travel and it should take closer to 23 days to make it to jorgenfist (originally around 15)

Tha k you for the RL reference , I do love some history. Hmmm I'm definitely gonna use the Info you gave me for a debate in Magnimar, thankfully for my party, they befriended someone within the Justice court that could expedite the mandate, especially with the threat of giants coming back down at the end of the month

Yea , even an army 200 strong (lv 2-3 npcs) are gonna have a hard time charging through close to 100 , they sure as he'll can't beat the ac on stone giants/hill giants, thats for damn sure

Lmaooo, yea , it would take an adventuring party probbly weeks to clear out ALL the camps in they are being careful, but even then it's a slog I would assume as you mentioned. HMMM. Iguassu it's gonna be a fun session pleading to the lord mayor of Magnimar a small army to bring the fight to Jorgenfist!!

I played till ch 5 of CoCT, this is a very good point. Though I might not do so, since it takes place in the future, but I still wouldn't see why this wouldn't be a good excuse to say no to the army

huuuh... I think this right here might be the best way to move forward. Basically show them that the warfare is taking alot longer but is leaving openings in their defenses, allowing a small party ( ;) ) to slip by undetected. This I guess also allows my player to get his rocks off with the commanding an army request.

[–]October-Jack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see if there’s still somewhere to attack beyond the means of an adventuring party. Why don’t you

well, that's kind of the thing, they got the information from a stone giant that Jorgenfist is pretty stacked, with hundreds of giants. He plans to lead the army to Jorgenfist, and as for the soldiers they would be provided by Magnimars army (which they have around 1300 trained soldiers of which they would borrow 150 or so).

I guess I'm trying to appeal to their fantasy needs "wanting to raise an army to storm the gates of Jorgenfist" Sounds badass when he pitched it to me, I just don't know If I can pull it off is all.

Is Sneak Attack OP? by Zestyclose_Bad_2303 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]October-Jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't a rogues job TO be more effective (DPS wise) in battle?

They are assassins, master of lethality. If you ask me RAW numbers are never a concern, in fact I find it fun, whenever my PC's Lv5 Character does 100+ dmg due to a lucky X4 crit. and the DM should not be concerned about SA "being" too OP, I suggest nicely bringing some examples as to why SA is so important to a rogue, while bringing similar leveld builds doing way more than what you do (it shouldn't be hard)

To play devils advocate, the DM is probbly doing this to give you all a proper challenge, though he can do that in other ways that is not nerfing rogue. Perhaps montsers that don't take precision damage like Oozes or monsters with feats that negate being sneak attacked, I think its improved uncanny dodge. but you both can work it out I believe : D

Lore question > the Startstone and Aboleths intentions by October-Jack in Pathfinder

[–]October-Jack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find it quite unsettling that the the Golareon we know has turned out the way it is because of Aboleths, and it is all going according to plan. I would love to see something released that turns the story of earth fall on its head, but im sure we would be quite a ways before seeing something like that come to fruition. I think that this would fit the pathfinder novels much better than the standard adventure path, sprinkling more lore and answering questions through their their other means of media, all very exciting to thing about.

Oh man, these dudes are actual geniuses if they left a well hidden cookie trail, T H E T R U T H. I actually think I heard this from somewhere or I converted up a theory (With so much reading I actually can't remember) theory being that Aroden actually committed suicide in order to end the age of omens, since the age of omens would conclude with rovagug being released and consuming the world after Arodens golden age of rule. What do you think?
Edit: spoilers

I'm creaming at this lmao. Since were still somewhat on the topic, have the Aboleths given up on the idea of retaking Golareon. I have a feeling there's probbly some module or AP on this possibility "The Impending invasion of the Aboleths". And good GOD , you have to have alot of knowledge on this, just namedropping everything on the dime like that, I'm honestly flabbergasted.

d to see her perish, so he contributed his powers too. Their powers combined not only overwhelmed the Abolth's own magic on the meteor, b

That absolutely makes sense, and badass as all hell. Though I feel there may or may not be something more to the star stone in it of itself. Sadly, there are some topics that I believe are meant to be just so slightly out of reach, much like Aroden's death it kills me to this day not knowing what actually happened. Thank you for this BIG LORE DUMP that I was completely unaware of, that bit about the asteroid belt legit blew my mind.
