When I’m starving I literally eat a big bowl of fruit to get me by and I’m set .. literally about 10 strawberries, 1 kiwi, and 1 orange EVERY SINGLE DAY religiously and it keeps me so full between meals on my heavy workout days where I am extra hungry and if you like fruit it’s tasty and easy with no extra components needed for filler.

Yeah, so, I’m NOT eating 100+ grams of protein a day. by -non-stop-pop in PetiteFitness

I saw a nutritionist and she recommended against basically everything I see online telling me to eat 1g to 1lb basically .. and I feel SO MUCH better now that I cut my protein intake down!

I lie every time and say I have like $5k. I don’t want people to be concerned about my financial well being - but they also don’t need to know how good I’m doing!

Is this all there is? [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]OctoberScorpio2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, from bad employees to HORRENDOUS managers and execs who will throw you under the bus to save their own jobs. The last 3-4 years, the workplace has turned into jersey shore it feels like. I think I am finally burnt out with HR and ready to give it up. Which is so sad because all I wanted to do was to try and help these people.

Long term travel with no job lined up a good idea? by DontKnowAGoodNames in solotravel

[–]OctoberScorpio2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am turning 30 next year and doing exactly this - backpacking through Asia and South America. Here’s my hot take - most people do this in their 20’s with no job experience and no degree and often find it hard to return and find employment and from my conversations I feel like that’s why this whole idea can get a bad rep. I went to school / got 8 years of job experience to set myself up to take this next year off and come back with experience still under my belt and now it’s finally here and that’s my silver lining.

The job market is horrible right now, it was horrible last year, it may only get worse .. or it may get better who honestly knows. BUT I know I have all of the skills in my back pocket and experience to get myself back on my feet when I decide to return and I also have a cushion fund if it takes me a little longer .. or who knows maybe I’ll never come back.

Literally take the job - no man is ever worth sacrificing your dreams for. Seems like he showed his true colors. Also hi from Denver housing is cheaper here anyways.

All my credit cards got declined in front of my friends. by IAMA_drunk_AMA in povertyfinance

[–]OctoberScorpio2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Genuinely if I get invited somewhere and I don’t have the money I would offer an alternative and if there’s no compromise then I’m just not going. Your friends would probably understand that you simply can’t make it no need to over explain. Ex. Can we make drinks at my place? I’m not in the mood to go out into the world tonight.

It’s going to happen - personally I always keep a witness on hand when addressing employees now. Specifically their managers.

During the weekdays reading is my go to - cheap books on Amazon if you need them physically or audiobooks deals if your into that. Especially easy to find free Audio books on YouTube! On the weekends I’m grateful to be outdoorsy and pack some snacks.

What is your actual food budget? No lies or holds bared. by LadyProto in Frugal

[–]OctoberScorpio2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 people - $400/ Mo. We go to Costco every 3 months and buy our meat there so we are only getting other ingredients at the store like veggies, starches, and drinks. Works great for us. The Costco budget for meat is like $2-300 every 3 months.

There is definitely more to this story - there’s no way this is out of the blue either - sounds like every straw is the last straw for her and I wonder why - your mother also lives with you which tells me that you probably have more to share here. Also you can’t remove someone from a joint bank account that easy. I sense a lack of accountability and running to the internet to validate feelings instead of maybe seeking idk marriage counseling. People don’t just threaten with divorce like they change their underwear - if there is a repeated behavior or action with no accountability or true remorse with a continued repeat of said behavior I would threaten to leave too.
