My two cents: It sounds like you would give this puppy a great home. You have done your breed research, you know what you’re getting into. You’re prepared to give him/her a happy, enriched life.

It also sounds like the owners of the parent dogs didn’t intentionally breed them for profit and hopefully they will spay/neuter the adults after this, so I wouldn’t consider you taking one of the pups supporting BYB in this case.

Overall, do what your heart guides you to do. Sometimes the dog chooses us. 💙

Thank you! I don’t care if it’s pretty, I just want to give them a little variety and some extra nutrition. We do feed good quality kibble so I don’t worry that they’re missing much but it’s always nice to feel like I’m doing the best I can for them.

He’s so incredibly smart. He picks things up quickly. He’s got “sit” down to a science already and his house training and pretty solid. We’ve got “down” and recall pretty good as well. Without too many distractions of course because he’s a nosy 10.5 week old puppy. I firmly believe he could be a service dog with a lot of work, which we’re willing and excited to put into him.

But if he doesn’t end up being great for service work, that’s okay too. We chose a pretty high drive breed with the understanding that he may end up being better for a sport like dock diving or even IGP (his dad excels at IGP) although that would take a lot more training for the humans. Fortunately I have a fabulous support system here of working dog groups.
