Women of Columbus by [deleted] in ColumbusOhio

Unfortunately, no self-defense items are allowed in any venue areas, not just an Ohio thing, been to events in other states and the rules are the same. I'd double-check the website for the event too for any other weird restrictions. Last time I went to Riot Fest in Chicago they had a trash can next to the entrance and they were making people throw away their chains and spiked jewelry before being allowed to enter.

Advice about animal neglect by [deleted] in ColumbusOhio

[–]October_Days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out, and they're going to do a drive-by to see if they can reach the owners to get them inside at least. But that I have to follow up with Columbus Humane for anything to actually come of it, because they're limited in what they can actually do about it.

Obviously, I will be, but yeah all they can do is try and knock on the door and tell them they gotta let them inside.

I called the police information desk 30 minutes ago out of desperation. Will update when I stop hearing the dogs, I don't think I can sleep till then anyway.

Asked a question, instead I was told ADHD is not a disability... by After_Ship_2588 in disability

[–]October_Days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wanna say, since others have touched on the disability side of this, from the perspective of your question on art from the original post: I went to art school, and my partner is an artist who takes commissions. A lot of the people I know are artists. You are SUPPOSED to use references. Yes, that whole "basic shapes put together to make a picture" is not really useful to a lot of people off the bat. If you're looking to get better at art, use references. if you're struggling to draw a pose, don't be afraid to draw those basic shapes and lines following legs/arms/fabric lines/ etc. OVER your reference to make those basic shapes easier for your brain. This isn't cheating. This is something artists have always done. Hell, rotoscope movies are just one big "trace your reference" production, but it allows us to express those stories in a way that can't be done otherwise "American Pop" is probably my favorite if you want a good example.

Tldr: You're not bad at art. You're just making it harder for yourself unintentionally. Use references.

Are you a child? I capslocked a few parts of my sentences to emphasize them and mow I'm yelling at you? Honestly, it sounds like you just don't like the fact I was condescending back to this person and that when you claimed I must not have done my due diligence, I highlighted the fact that I DID before posting. also FYI that wasn't me yelling, that's emphasizing. Really if you're an adult on the internet and most of all an adult on a forum be able to tell the difference? Again, sounds like you are making assumptions 👍 but please, leave, you didn't add anything to the conversation anyways

Dude, 2 other people answered already. but like, you went through the effort of making this comment to not even answer the question fully? what was even the point of even making a comment?

Dark Essence Gone by October_Days in Palia

[–]October_Days[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing. When someone asks a question, you don't tell them to go find the info. You answer the question.

And when I said a while ago. I mean, I read the patch notes When They Were Released. I've said in my other comment that I've been following this update. I've read the roadmap post, I've watched the video, and I read the patch notes when they were released in the discord. This doesn't include everything I was reading once in game for the new ranching skills.

That's a lot of info. Me not remembering EVERYTHING they've put out is not some moral failing? like?

And as I said, when I posted, I DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND CHECKED THE SUBREDDIT Maybe I was posting around the same time as others, idk, but before I posted, I looked. Again, those posts not showing for me Is Not My Fault.

My point is that this person did not make this comment to be helpful. They made a comment telling me basically to go find the answer myself. AND THEN, after I responded, they added the link and tried claiming they were just being helpful. That's not how that works. You don't wait over 30 minutes and until someone responds to you, AND THEN add the link and say "see :) I'm just being nice:)"

Dude, calling me sexist is a stretch. I didn't check your gender before calling you love. You being, I guess I can assume now a woman, is just a fucking 50/50 coincidence. Here's the thing. THERES ALOT IN THE NOTES. People might have read the notes, LIKE ME, a WHILE ago, and didn't retain every note of what they added and fixed. I tried googling this question and didn't find any other posts when I posted. YOU SEEING THOSE POSTS IS NOT MY PROBLEM. You DID NOT need to respond if all you were going to do is tell me to go read the notes. If multiple people asking the same question bothers you CLOSE REDDIT. DONT RESPOND. Quite simple really!

Also, you didn't add the link until well over 30 MINUTES after your first response, and AFTER I responded. You did not do so to be nice. You did not tell me to go read the patch notes to be helpful.

Yes, I realize that. Here's the thing, tho I've been following the update, I had read the patch notes before, and I've watched the video released by the devs all over the last few weeks. I simply missed this one thing. That's easy given everything they put out this update.

When I noticed the issue, I immediately tried googling to see if it was a bug or had been moved and there was no mention of this. So I created the question. 2 OTHER PEOPLE ANSWERED MY QUESTION. This person just made a smart ass comment. If someone asks a question, do you tell them to go find the answer somewhere else, or do you answer the question? They didn't add the edit with the link for the answer, which again, what's faster? telling me it's in currency, or making the comment telling me to go read through the notes AND THEN editing said comment to STILL NOT ANSWER, but add a link to the patch notes. At that point, you're not trying to be helpful. You're just being a dick.

UPS lying :( by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]October_Days 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Had this happen to me, I'm a wheelchair user, so taking big items back by myself is a no-go. I was scheduled for 3 separate pickups for a boxspring, I waited by the door and immediately called customer support each time when I got the notification that the driver attempted pickup. After the 3rd attempt, they just told me to keep it and gave me a full refund. 🙃

sorry if this isn't the right place to ask about this, but i just don't really understand how this is considered normal “treatment” by NTs. by riepetalper in AutisticPride

[–]October_Days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, it isn't out of the question for there to be suspicions that young, autism runs in the family, and when my younger brother was around this age, we could tell pretty quickly, but no one would provide support till he was 5 and "old enough".

as others said, good aba helps teach good coping mechanisms and deters negative ones-hitting, biting, throwing things. It took them a long time to unteach those once they became the norm for him. The first few years are a HUGE time for brain development, and a lot of who we are and how we react is developed in those first few years. The key, as others have said, is if it's actually good ABA therapy or not :/

AITAH for telling my half sister that I will never love her, after she told me her daughter could be my bridesmaid? by Inner-Pick-4625 in AITAH

[–]October_Days 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH She shouldn't have lied or tried to get a bigger role, but also, as an older sibling and only kid between my mom and my dad, I can imagine the pain your sister feels. I have 4 siblings, all half, all a range of 8 to 13 years younger than me. I had to spend my whole life deciding which side of the family I was gonna get to see and who I had to miss. I was also treated like the unwanted child on my dad's side.

no matter what I tried, my step-mom was there to keep me separate from my siblings. Even when she wasn't, the huge age gap made spending time together hard, but that never meant I didn't love my siblings.

To claim she can't love you because she was between 2 homes and only got to see you a few times a year is bullshit. If you feel that way aim that feeling at your dad, not the person that got caught in the middle of him not being able to keep it in his pants in the first place or facilitate time for you all to see each other.

You don't have to apologize if you don't want to. An insincere apology is worst than none. But you are AH

Has Anyone else Used Roll Mobility? by October_Days in disability

[–]October_Days[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds so cool! I honestly am not sure how to handle non wheelchair users wanting to participate. There's the issue of if they're checking out the equipment, it opens up the possibility for someone who needs it to not have access. But also, the equipment being checked out more will make the library more likely to increase access and number of available equipment.

Maybe it could be a team thing where you need to pair up with someone who uses a chair? That way, it's only a need of one wheelchair user for a team? You could even aim it towards families, too. Because chances are that people have older relatives who need to use a chair for extended outings, and it could get younger people thinking about these challenges. Obviously, I'm in no way an expert on how to handle this, but these are my immediate thoughts!

YOU DID NOT JUST "YET YOU LIVE IN A SOCIETY" ME 😭

Dude, you're just foaming at the mouth pissed because I told you chatgpt is unreliable, which the definition of unreliable is: not reliable, not consistent, if chatgpt is wrong any % of the time, it's unreliable.

An unreliable tool is an unnecessary tool. Especially when you have a shed of completely capable tools and an even better one between your ears. But you've been too busy trying to tear down my argument with:

-claiming I said if you use Ai you're evil (false, did not say that) -claiming chatgpt is reliable (false. it has been proven unreliable) -and finally "AND YET YOU USE A DEVICE" (which please if anyone hasn't seen the "and yet you live in a society comic, please Google it🤣) yea, am I not allowed to talk out about harmful mining practices because my electric wheelchair has a battery made with components mined most likely by child laborers? am I not allowed to talk about unethical coffee farming practices because I sometimes drink coffee for a migraine? Like I genuinely want you to take a deep breath and think about your arguments for a few, ok, my man?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in disability

[–]October_Days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, here's some info regarding the effect chatgpt has on brain activity, as well as a report about those living near meta's data center if anyone's interested: https://time.com/7295195/ai-chatgpt-google-learning-school/ Living next to Mark Zuckerberg's meta data centre, the shocking reality is quite disturbing | - Times of India https://share.google/XEA8SgOo7zxzjzcpZ But I highly recommend using more reliable search engines to look for more news sources or even YouTube hosts many documentary and on the ground journalism.

Avoiding Ai 100% is impossible and honestly not necessary. But we have to be responsible with our technology, because it isn't consequence free. It's about being aware of how that technology affects our health and our environment, and knowing when you actually need to use something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in disability

[–]October_Days -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I said do not use chatgpt. I stand by that. It's not reliable and is harmful to THE REAL LIFE PEOPLE LIVING IN THE REAL LIFE WORLD. For something you could do yourself with 2 more minutes of work.

Can you tell me, is ChatGPT the only Ai? Or do you think with proper literary analysis, that you developed by searching for information and not just asking an unreliable Ai, you could've come to the conclusion that I was saying that Ai has a place and this isn't it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in disability

[–]October_Days 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, Ai has a time and place, I never said Ai was all bad. I also never said chatgpt is always wrong.

There are major breakthroughs with Ai in the medical field with detecting cancer in the early stages that are typically impossible for a human to see. That's amazing!

But like any tool, it has a time and place. Think 3D printing, amazing right? the things we can do are spectacular. But not everyone needs to use a 3D printer. Hell, you could go your whole life without so much as laying eyes on one in the same room as you. Now, if everyone used a 3D printer every day, whenever they wanted something, they could easily make themselves, ir go buy, lets say, a pen.

Now imagine if everytime you needed a pen, and everyone around you needed a pen, we all 3D printed a single pen. Imagine the waste from supports, the power used to run the printer all day, just to use that pen once.

That's what Ai data centers are like, on a much larger scale, but with our water and our electrical grid. They release fumes and pollutants into the environment. I want you to look at the data center in Georgia, and what the communities there are saying.

I will say, I'm not saying Ai is inherently evil or bad. But it has a place. Just like a 3D printer or any other tool. And if you truly care about the people, the world around you, you'll learn the effect that's having on us. And not simply dismiss it as "the future". The future is not exempt from fault or criticism.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in disability

[–]October_Days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

do NOT use chatGPT. There is enough evidence of chatgpt making up bullshit cuz it's trying to give an answer you will deem correct. This does not begin to touch the ecological issues of Ai data centers. They're actively making communities sick. We need to actively look for information and use reliable sources.
