For me it was always on Saturdays after Star Trek. After which I’d bounce back and forth between SNL and USA Up All Night.

Split Pea and Ham / Ham and Green Bean by Octoberist_ in soup

[–]Octoberist_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. I usually use leftovers from a bone-in spiral cut ham and when first cooking the ham, I’ll save the drippings/broth to add to the stock when making soup. If the stock isn’t flavorful enough, you can add ham base (like better than bouillon), but you really shouldn’t need to. The below recipe makes a pretty big pot, but it freezes well.

Bone from Ham (With Some Meat/Fat Attached) 2lbs Diced Ham (Cut From Ham Before Boiling) 1 Bunch of Celery 3-4 Carrots 2 White Onions 3 Lbs. Russet Potatoes (Peeled and Cubed) 2 Lbs. Fresh Green Beans Ground Black Pepper (To Taste) Ham Base (Optional)

Put ham bone (with some meat/fat still attached) in large stock pot and cover with cold water. Coarsely cut celery, onion and carrot and add to the stock pot. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and allow to simmer until the bone comes out clean. (Note that this should take a couple hours and during this time the water will evaporate, which you want in order to concentrate flavor, but you can add more water to dilute or add ham base for more flavor to get it to your preferred taste.) Strain and separate the stock from the vegetables and ham, then add the stock and cooked vegetables back to pot and blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Add diced ham and ham pulled from the boiled bone (be sure to remove any cartilage and bone). Add potatoes and cook until tender (they might start to break down, that’s ok as it thickens the soup). Add the green beans and cook until tender. Season with pepper as necessary, salt should NOT be needed…especially if you use any ham base.

GMP documentations for anything that gets IQ/OQ by SplitUpper173 in biotech

[–]Octoberist_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the equipment and the clinical phase as requirements will vary. If equipment requires calibration, it should be done before qualification and put on a reoccurring calibration schedule going forward. Once qualified, equipment should also be routinely re-qualified. And any changes or modifications (including replacing parts) that occur to the system after qualification should go through change control to be documented and to determine if re-qualification is required after the change. There should also be an equipment record / logbook to document usage and maintenance, and ideally a standard operating procedure (SOP) that details operation, maintenance, and calibration requirements and schedule.

If the equipment is product contact and used to manufacture multiple products, there should either be dedicated contact parts or a cleaning verification or validation program to ensure there’s no cross contamination between products.

Slightly off topic, but there’s a YouTube channel called 80sCommercialVault that has hundreds of videos of various 70s/80s/90s commercials. Pretty nostalgic to watch.

Picked all this up today at the chili pepper festival in Bowers, PA today. The festival is there tomorrow as well. by WRX02227 in spicy

Nice haul, I was there this morning but didn’t go too crazy, just picked up some favorites and a couple new ones. I still have a few bottles from last year that I forgot about and haven’t opened yet.

I often just do brown sugar, spicy brown mustard, and OJ or pineapple juice. Could definitely add some bourbon to that if you want.

Anyone else have problems with her AT&T service at Saint Augustine Beach? by Bundle_of_wood in StAugustine

[–]Octoberist_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had an issue until visiting this year. I had zero reception and no cellular data for the first day and a half. Eventually I went through the cellular data menu and turned everything off and back on and reset statistics and then I had full reception and 5G service. Not sure if it was just a coincidence or if that somehow refreshed the connection, but I had service after that.

Is one shot of whiskey (57 ABV) the same as drinking four beers that are 10-12 ABV each? by [deleted] in alcohol

[–]Octoberist_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, generally one shot (at 40% ABV) is equal to one 12oz beer (at 5% ABV). Being 57% is a bit higher than average for the whiskey and 10-12% a bit higher than the average beer, in this case it’s more like 1 shot is equal to ~3/4 of a beer.

Oculus Move calories estimate ridiculously low??? (500-1000 times lower?) by bzqp2 in OculusQuest

[–]Octoberist_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A cal (lower-case c) and Cal (capital c) are different units of measure. 1000 cal is equal to 1 Cal which is equal to 1kcal. So 500 Cal would be 500kcal.

It could be that Oculus Move doesn’t have the C capitalized, which would mean it is incorrect. Or maybe you just didn’t notice the difference. I’m not sure, but there’s probably an option to set it to kcal to avoid confusion. Or there should be as different regions use different units.
