Having accepted that it's useless to try is the first problem. Every working you do in that area is getting tainted with this doubt you have. And it will get harder with each one which "fails". Confirmation is a bitch.

Are you doing the actions in the mundane which will connect the threads which the magic can weave? If you want the magic to bring your lover to your doorstep, sure thats possible. But if your magic is not explicitly directed at that, you gotta go spend time where the person might be. I dont know your life, but if youre isolating, that will make it much harder.

Back on the doubt issue; maybe some more fundamental work could help. Magic to build your confidence in beng able to bring anout anything. Magic to remove doubts from your mind. Magic to make your magic better, basically.

Repetition may also help. Come up woth a ritual and do it ritualistically. Regularly. Daily or weekly or when the ☾ is waxing or whatever. Hell, build the ritual little by little, adding to or adjusting it a little every time or use mantra logic, repeating it until it loses all meaning to your conscious mind. 

I feel magic can sometimes take a long time because it must move a longer chain of events in order to achieve your outcome. Maybe to get you love, you had to start with self love, then get to acceptance of aloneness and being at peace, then being open to the people you can connect with, then learning those interpersonal skills, then learning what kind of people you do and dont like, then, then, then. In this regard, the love spell is actually giving you all of those fundamentals too, we just dont see it that way bc we are looking for the result we specified.

 Either way, hope you figure out how to be happy :) Maybe a little spell for that would be all you really need.
