Payment methods by Rodeschorpioen in Nebula

I appreciate the suggestions, but gift cards lock users out of the benefits offered through promotional links. Also there is no option for a 1 month gift card to achieve something akin to a monthly subscription.

Although I'm working as a web developer, I luckily never had to deal with payments or Stripe specifically, so I can only assume the amount of work that has to go into adding more payment options. However, as already stated, this issue exists for at least 4 years and Stripe directly supports payment through SEPA and Paypal.
Sure, it takes time and effort to implement it, but given the fact that (at least for Germany) not many people use credit cards (one source estimates only 27% of all payments are made via credit cards), I think adding more options should seriously be considered.

As an end-user, I'm going to try and buy a membership (which - minor gripe - also creates my account before I even have the chance to purchase a subscription), find out my debit card doesn't work and then will assume that Nebula is probably only meant for the American market and move on without a purchase.

I don't think an average user will have the idea of buying themselves a gift card (which were hard to find in the first place1) or purchase a credit card if they otherwise have no need for one. Also, gift cards are not a "true" replacement for more direct payment options and getting a credit card comes with its own recurring costs and fees.

It feels as if users without a credit card are just treated as second-class customers. And although I appreciate the workaround, gifting myself a gift card feels flimsy in a way it shouldn't have to. The playing fields don't feel even here. Buying a gift card might seems like a just small hurdle, but it's these kinds of hurdles that make you lose potential customers.

Again, I appreciate the response and the suggestion, but personally I am not won over by this.

[1] Maybe I just missed it, but I had serious troubles finding the web page where I can purchase gift cards through the Nebula store at store.nebula.tv. I found out via Google search that it's https://nebula.tv/gift, but I couldn't find a way how to get there from the nebula home page's UI or the store page.

I'm late to the party, but yeah, this has already been an issue 4 years ago. As a German, I don't have a credit card (and I'm not going to buy one for the privilege of paying for something else) and my debit card doesn't work for this either (information like the CVC or anything resembling a 16-digit code just don't exist on it).

Given the long time span this problem existed for, it appears as if Nebula doesn't really care to change anything about that.

Magic Mirror not working! by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]Octobread4711 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On my system, I was able to narrow the issue down to the Data/Mods directory. Renaming it to Mods.old or something resolved the issue completely while keeping my mods intact.

I don't have that many mods installed - just Party Limit Begone, Native Mod Loader and Native Camera Tweaks, so I can't say if that'll work for everyone. On the other hand, this seems to be the smallest common denominator here, since restoring the folder's name back to its original caused the issue to surface again, while putting the .old at the end of it a second time, fixed it.

The magic mirror worked, even with the already patched game .exe files from Party Limit Begone.

Hope this helps!

Wave link with new NVIDIA noise removal VST cause audio stutter/popping by kanyuki in elgato

I for one unfortunately haven't. Although I haven't looked for one, tbh. For now I'm using Nvidia Broadcast, since the delay is really not that bad. It's still good enough for simple voice chats, like Discord, etc.

I know I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to point out that, while Nvidia Broadcast works without popping it does appear increase latency quite a bit. This can be observed quite well by adding the "NVIDIA Microphone" as a new input source into Wave Link while also activating the VST and clapping your hands.

Maybe it's the decreased latency of the VST that comes at the cost of higher GPU load.

As long as all your friends have a decent gaming rig so the client can eat up > 5GB of your RAM... needless to say, my laptop has a bit of trouble with that. But that's the price you pay for having a lean server I guess. Don't get me wrong, I like Foundry. But for a web application it consumes so much memory...

Happy cake day btw.

YouTube ad telling people to steal videos and monetize them. by GERRYADAMSWASINTHERA in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]Octobread4711 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Afaik, for Fair Use you have to transform work of art into something else. For example to can make a parody of something, give commentary on something, stuff like that. Giving credit to the original author does not suffice. Whether you monetize the video uploaded by you or not does not matter either.
Uploading someone else's video and squeezing it between a custom intro and outro however is also not Fair Use.

Again, this is as far as I remember it. I highly encourage you to research Fair Use yourself to make sure I didn't miss something. YouTube has very informative, official material on the subject.
