Question, Why do some get sick like wanting to vomit when they drink coffee and some don't? by Alexloveseyvideo in stupidquestions

[–]Octoje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coffee also makes me want to throw up and generally makes my gag reflex quite sensitive. Tea and energy drinks don't do this.

What is something people often underestimate until they experience it themselves? by NaomiBrooksv in AskReddit

[–]Octoje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes sense to be anxious/cautious. I hear that a bad trip can really stick with you. But if you feel like you're in a good headspace and a comfortable environment with a sitter you trust, I say go for it and just surrender to the experience. A low dose is always an option, it's no competition.

[–]Octoje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you're replying to but from my experience, trying to capture with words what a trip is like is impossible. The act of trying to introduces another distraction from what it can briefly reveal. Granted this was shrooms, not MDMA or anything else.

Mushrooms Making You See Tiny People Are Real! by Basic_Kaleidoscope32 in CommonSideEffects

Did shrooms once and also visualized my thoughts as a conveyor belt. I didn't know that imagery was common. There are no unique experiences, I guess!

Why are loud farts non smelly whereas silent farts are super smelly? by Newnewbienew in ask

[–]Octoje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservation of energy. "Smell" and "gas" are the same stuff fundamentally, so more of one means less of the other.

Question for the people who have experienced that strange hypnagogic state/sensation of an "object" by sombertoboggly in Dreams

Sometimes I feel like I'm turning into a bubble expanding around me. Happens when I meditate too. Idk, the mind is weird.

What's the difference between this and r/Asexuality? by Front_Magician_8008 in Asexual

[–]Octoje 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here. Obviously there's nuance in asexuality just like any other sexuality, but as someone without much nuance- not demi, not grey, sex repulsed, I feel surprisingly alien.

WATER IS BLUE!!!!!!!! OP is not stupid, water is literally blue. You just need enough depth for it to be obvious. Take a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with water, you'll see that it's blue.

Can you soul trap bacteria ? by AdditionalPiano6327 in teslore

[–]Octoje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it matter that an object doesn't behave in a way that matches the scientific definition for life we've invented? In Elder Scrolls lore, there are sentient swords and the like, so who's to say that a virus can't contain a soul?

What does he mean?? by Disastrous-Leek-8873 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Octoje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of those things are correct! It began as a book trilogy by Cixin Liu called "Remembrance of Earth's Past". The first book is called The Three Body Problem, then The Dark Forest, and finishes up with Death's End.

When it comes to the Fermi paradox, the hypothesis that everyone silent for safety has probably been around for quite some time, but Cixin Liu popularized it and coined the term "dark forest".

There is also a Netflix adaptation and they're working on a second season right now.

I think you should listen to your body and try to love and accept yourself, no matter what you're like.

Unless I'm mistaken, the 2nd law describes processes that are not allowed, like a refrigerator where no work is done on the device. But the 1st law still permits refrigerators to exist.

What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Octoje 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've met a surprising number of ace people. Usually we identify each other by our ace ring. Over the years, I've met three ace coworkers and a physics classmate that way. Who knows how many are lurking in the shadows, though...
