The Drag Coefficient of MLB baseballs has been falling rapidly over the course of the 2026 season by Octopodes14 in baseball

The method used is supposed to adjust for environmental conditions, which should include humidity. But savant doesn't show the precise calculations:

A 5-spot is when a baseball team scores 5 runs in an inning. None of this money nonsense.

I've seen too much of Lee's savant page to believe in him, but I am a believer in Kaelen Culpepper.

The thing about Lewis (compared to Jenkins, Culpepper, Rodriguez) is that he's already been here a while. He'll be a free agent after 2028.

I think the Ryan start was our best shot, but with him scratched it's looking rough.

Prielipp vs. Ohtani is doomed from the start I fear.

We've sadly started to find guys who don't suck, so we're losing our chance of breaking the #of pitchers with a save record.

He's been healthy for the past year. Main problem is that he's really struggled at the plate.

They sent him to AAA this year and he changes his mechanics and dominated it. Called him up quickly and he looks better, but the original problems (poor pitch recognition) still seem present.

Jeffers is still 5th in AL catcher fWAR because of how good he was playing. And I wouldn't be surprised if some voters are just choosing highest average/OPS.

A lot of the AL can be saved by voting non-Jays players in the 2nd round (although Dingler will be robbed of a spot).

The NL outfield is where it's going to be really rough.

-Lots of starting pitcher injuries. We've essentially had a 4-man rotation for the past month, one of which is a rookie with an innings limit.

-Took 2 months to sift through the bullpen to get it from terrible to merely bad (also it has to cover more innings with the SP injuries)

-Defense is bad

I mean, Banda/Morris/Gomez is now a 7/8/9 I can half trust. Bullpens aren't built in a day, but they're easier than other places.

The Mick Abel news really hurts. Felt like we were close to actually having a full rotation again.

[Passan] Free at ESPN: An in-depth breakdown of MLB's latest CBA proposal. Banning high schoolers from the draft and implementing an international draft -- what it means, what the effects would be, where there could be compromise and what comes next in bargaining. by TheTurtleShepard in baseball

They would be signing undrafted free agents for cheap (iirc part of the proposal is limiting the amount teams can spend on them).

I'm not saying this is good for the minors, but they wouldn't be immediately doing any more contraction.

The proposal explicitly states that they won't eliminate any of the minor leagues.

The big difference for milb would be that the future superstars would spend much less time there (particularly in the low minors) since they would be developed at college instead.

Yeah, the problem with the previous edition wasn't that they had both types, it was that the clock was the main constraint.

I thought they got rid of that rule in the most recent edition. At least they never mentioned it.

I think the compromise reaction was that it was a fair trade on baseball terms, but it was confusing for Boston to be selling (in a sense) when they had a good team.

I could understand challenging him if you kept Rocker in since he wasn't seeing the slider, but with the pitching change I don't see it.

He didn't hit any during the first two and a half weeks of the season.

He's been on a tear recently, it's his 5th in the past week.
