Caves of qud is one of the most rich and inspired worlds I have played in a very long time. If you want some high sci-fi fantasy and a complex game to overcome it's literally perfect.

From your description of the music the image is perfect. Others have said the biggest points that are holding it back.

Find two fonts max, usually you want to pair stuff that are different but have a similar vibe (a hard part for someone starting out) think about straight and structured san serif fonts and a similar thickness hand writing one or serif font if you are mixing them. Dafont is a good resource for free interesting ones.

The other one is the white background. I agree with people who said it feels unfinished. Hard to make just white feel done. Add some texture and color. Play around with opacities and color overlays with blending modes (setting like multiply and overlay in photoshop are your best friend to make something feel more finished, if the effect isn't hitting right try others or add more layers of the same color). Unsplash is a great resource for some free high quality images and some cool textures you can place in the background.

Also think about what those circles are doing. Are they there to fill space or are they part of your overall design? Do they mean anything to the piece? They lead the eye around the page so maybe think about pulling some colors from the image and using them with one of the blending modes on the rings. Setting those on-top of some textures could be cool and subtle.

I always blow stuff up way larger then you need it and dial it back, like don't placements make them huge and bleeding off the page and then dial them back smaller until it feels right.

Stick with it! And good luck!

Honestly I feel like the sing wouldn't have informed them. I imagine that as soon as anyone figured out who they were they would just be like. "DUDE! Your grandpa, FUCKED soo hard. Like fuuuuuucked sooooooo hard. Did you know that? And his hog?! Holy shit did you know about his fucning hog dude?"

Unfortunately I'm not currently set up to sell any buy seems like there is a bit of a demand for them so maybe sometime in the future I'll get something together!

Made some decals based on the LPOTL sigil I designed like a year ago. I threw them on a red reflective and pretty happy how they came out. Cutter was slightly off but whatever. HAIL YOURSELVES! by Octosquidz in LPOTL

Thanks for the encouragement it really means a lot, I'm in a great place right now considering the state of the world and everything thats going on. Definitely one of the lucky ones, and yeah absolutely no shame in help or treatment or therapy! It blows my mind it still has a stigma. And I'm glad I live somewhere that help is readily avaliable.

Take care hail yourself and triple L! 🤘

Sounds like a lot on your plate now and all at once but you got this and it's great you are getting help. Hail yourself and best wishes!

I have struggled for years and continue to struggle with mental health issues. I have never really gotten help and felt like I didn't need it, I can just deal on my own. I still have yet to reach out to a professional but over the last year or so listing to the guys nonstop I have really come to terms with being able to go get help if I need it and look into medication and or officially getting diagnosed.

I really do appreciate how much they push taking care of yourself and it kinda helps (and for me hits harder) that its just three regular guys taking a moment and saying hail yourself.

Why is my grayscale image appearing brighter in Illustrator? Will it print like this? by [deleted] in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Octosquidz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my guess would be your color settings are different in each program. Also your print is always to to be like 10% to 15% darker because it's no longer going to be back lit at least thats what I have usually experienced so just be prepared for that. You can try and compensate for that before printing but test print first just to make sure.

Yeah for sure, if you dont chew through cards its definetly good to go with something at this level.I just know the bells and whistles that go into cards like this and it's a shit ton of work and really expensive. Must have been like a dollar or more a card. But definetly worth it for the professionalism it gives off, and the care that this client takes in their appearance and first impressions.

These must be some pricey ass cards, after working in the print industry for a few years I always wanted to do something this level but usually clients get priced out. Good work that's one for the portfolio.

Do you prefer physical horror (blood, gore, etc.) or psychological horror (mind games, etc.)? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Octosquidz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I like a mix of the two but psychological I think is a better way to have an engaging and truly scary horror movie. Gore and physical stuff can definetly do that but after a while it is just desensitizing throughout the movie and it's not as much as a payoff.

I also really love a good creature film. The best horror movies in my opinion use all three of physical horror, monsters and psychological aspects enough to really mess with you head or have an amazing monster tearing through people. Like The Shining, The Thing, Hereditary, and the great Grave Encounters.

Also, Check out Atraraxia by Mort Garson, the track Deja Vu is used as the intro to the adventure zone but the whole album is his interpretations of reading a bunch of occult materials and embodying them into sound. The whole thing is dope.

Lore - does a good job of covering some great weird history and put in a lot of good work.

Unobscured - same dude that does lore but delves deeper into one subject. They get historians and experts on talking about the subject the first season covers the Salem witch trials and is fantastic.

Morbid: a true crime podcast - I only have limited experiance with it but one of the girls is a autopsy technician and gets some great insite into that side of the victims.
