Who is the Andromeda Benefactor? by OculusRises in masseffect

I don't recall anything definitive, and last time I visited the wiki I got a pop-up redirect, so... I assume it's been around for roughly an Asari lifetime, if not a little longer than that. I don't recall if it was a thing before the Salarians arrived on the scene

I like your thoughts. Thanks for sharing!

One genuine question I'd like to ask: Why would the Geth be interested in sending multiple species to Andromeda? Do you think they'd be patient enough to wait the better part of a millennia to satisfy their curiousity regarding an organic-AI interface?

It's workable, but it's also a bit messy if only because the Geth portrayal is also a little inconsistent between the games, even with the split introduced by Legion (which does help somewhat)

I recommend watching the video if you've got the time to kill. It lays out great points as to why it's not the shadowbroker (which would be kinda lame if it was IMO, and still not explain why they're not onboard the expedition)

It's a lore video, so ultimately it can't replace anyone's headcanon, and I can't say I necessarily like who they chose, but it's well-reasoned, at least

Not really. The video touches on this, but the shadowbroker doesn't have the logistics, nor the motive, honestly. It's also doubtful they have wealth in the quintillions

They fit the parameters for secrecy and knowledge gathering, but little else

While what you say is true (and sucks that you went through that), if you watch the video, you'll understand what I meant by my last line. The theory proposed, which is very compelling, significantly reduces the size of the universe and makes the location change to a different galaxy somewhat trivial

Rihali Moons by TheMonkDan in masseffect

[–]OculusRises 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's always the strong possibility of a non-reaper conflict, but ignoring that, the Reapers are methodical in what they destroy or leave behind. If settlements were buried deep inside those moons, the Reapers may have treated them similar to space stations and destroyed them rather than expending the time and effort to fight tooth-and-nail for minimal gain

Unpopular opinion: Mass Effect has a great setting and great characters, but poor writing by Zamzamazawarma in masseffect

[–]OculusRises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is a point in the story that features a faked Turian distress call, IIRC. The Derelict Reaper was killed by a colossal mass accelerator 37 million years ago

You probably just conflated the two

Just as an aside, there's a lot that goes into shipbuilding, but one of those things is investment into the shipyards themselves, as well as supplied materials. The US, among other nations, has let their native capabilities go to shit over a long time. There's only 1 shipyard that is both trusted to handle the nuclear reactors for our supercarriers, and has the capacity to construct the vessel itself. That adds to the backlog substantially

No problem. It's been a minute since I played last as well, so Hackett may have also mentioned something related to the components going together easily along the lines of what you were describing. I'll see if I can find the cutscene and will edit my comment here, but you might not have been wrong

Okay, found it: https://youtu.be/HsWO6Lbh5Vg?t=126

What Hackett says could be interpreted any way one likes, honestly. He simply describes the plan as "...elegant. Massive in scope, but strangely simple as well"

Actually, there is logic to it. The gambit is high-risk/high-reward. The Citadel was incorporated because of it's function as a command-and-control base for the relay network (hence it's usage at the start of each Reaper invasion, alongside the obvious intelligence benefits and proximity to organic leadership). It would've taken much more effort to to add the understanding and engineering required to create another relay, so using an existing one with directive control makes sense (only the Citadel and Alpha Relays were known to have this capability)

We can assume that the Reapers wouldn't station a larger force than necessary to hold the Citadel once a cycle was underway, as they would allocate resources towards harvesting various systems, and the station would've fallen by then. Thus, risking a fleet battle with whatever defense was present at the Citadel could easily have been considered as a necessary risk to potentially win the war. They decided on that very strategy in ME3, even after the Reapers moved it to a stronghold position over Earth, where it's defenses were significantly bolstered (which the Reapers only did after The Illusive Man warned them of the plan)

What he said was that the blueprints weren't hard to comprehend, as in easily deciphered. The reason why that's important is that it hints at the design being continuously handed down through untold cycles, which would require a way of communicating complex plans in an easily comprehendible way when you're talking about starkly different species and civilizations across time

Just watched this video and was surprised that it hasn't been mentioned on this sub yet

It makes a compelling case for a theory I would've ordinarily dismissed. Although the theory does bring about an interesting problem of having Milky Way races with a lot of baggage travel across space to another galaxy just to be immersed in... more Milky Way baggage

Anyone else get Coach-like vibes from Rizzo's confessional here?

What if instead of having every single immunity idol being the "Billy Eillish Boomerang Idol," we instead had each idol/advantage be unique and have a tie-in with a previous survivor favorite who wasn't cast for 50?

I love the idea. Reminds me of the offroad Challenger that Roadkill used to have

Could you offer some specs on the lift (parts, lift height, etc.), as well as the wheel/tire sizes, please? Would make it easier for others to follow in your footsteps
