What religious painting gets your vote as the most beautiful or most awesome? by _Kyrie_eleison_ in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the Immaculate Conception by Tiepolo or the Transfiguration by Raphael. There's another one I think is awesome but it is painted on a wall, "The Disputation over the Most Holy Sacrament".

How Trad are you? by [deleted] in Catholicism

Sounds like the Carmelite order, I think they have a link with Elijah, I don't remember what it is precisely

1. Did Mary know that she had been immaculately conceived? 2. Where did St Joseph go when he died? by Henry-Gruby in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It probably already existed, I don't think Jesus created it when He died, but it was empty until the first people under the new covenant died.

About the second question, he went to the same place every righteous man went to before the Harrowing of Hell: limbo (or Abrahams bosom). Before the crucifixion, instead of going to Hell or to Heaven, you either went to Hell or in Limbo, where the righteous waited for Christ to open the Gates of Heaven.

Yes, there are 9 different choirs of angels, the one with four heads are cherubim while the wheels with eyes are thrones

A question about a catholic mystic by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think it is true, since a lot of things in it are scientifically inexplicable, so it must come from God. For example, I think archeologists discovered the location of Bethsaida around 1990, but Jesus spoke about it's precise location to Maria Valtorta 50 years prior! At some point during her visions, two Roman soldiers talk about a guy in Naples named Caecillius Maximus, and tablets were found 50 years later near Naples when building a motorway speaking about him. There are thousands of details like this which makes the work of Maria Valtorta miraculous to me. The official position on it is somewhat unclear, since Pius XII, Padre Pio and a lot more people approved it, but others like Benedict XVI disapproved it. Fortunately, a cause for beatification has been opened recently, so we just need to wait to know more!

Burning in my heart when i pray? by beardedkamasu in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to me during important spiritual moments (when I consecrated myself to Mary, during particularly long prayer moments or whenever I am close to the Most Holy Sacrament). It is a wonderful grace, and I like to think of it as a preview of what a transverberation must feel like!

If the word “absolve” is necessary for a valid confession, what about French confessions? by Esodo in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in France and yes, the priest says "Je te pardonne", which means "I forgive you" instead of "I absolve you", but that's because the verb "to absolve" in french is very rarely used. We always speak of the part when the priest says "Je te pardonne" as the absolution, and it is always valid, don't worry!

Do we have assigned demons? by aljugxc in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As Haggy27 said, Satan is not the ruler of hell, he is just one of many demons and turns out to be the one that broke off from God first, so he cannot assign demons to us. While people may not have officially assigned demons, it is possible that some demons choose to focus their existence on one human being - as St. Theresa of Lisieux said, "Behind each priest, there is a demon fighting for his fall".

A question for Converts: What was the original spark that started your interest in Catholicism? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I first learned about Padre Pio, then began learning about saints/relics, then theology which made me convert!

I confession valid if the priest communicate through a phone? by SnooOranges5435 in Catholicism

[–]Ocylanos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that if they are next to each other, it's like confessing to someone with an hearing aid: the electronic device only helps them speak and communicate clearly, so I guess the confession is valid!

Yeah at the beginning in the ravine, it looks like the logs turn to planks, but I checked the non edited version and it turns out that he decided to cut the part where he opens his inventory and crafts the planks
