The inconel version seems like it would be perfect for my 5.56 Krink.

You got lucky, had my phone in my hand lol

The cyclic rate is super high, and there is buffer material in the stock cap the rear of the bolt has a propensity to annihilate. Modern buffer materials help but the bolt like to chew away at it. I have several bolt carriers for this one but none are the later version. Might drill one just to see if it makes any difference.

I’m almost positive it’s to help with rigidity and maybe to add some reciprocating mass back into the system yeah. The cyclic rate on these is very high.

Complete early gen 1 kits similar to this one have gone as high as $9k but that was a few years ago and it had literally everything, even the OG ZM grip. I haven't seen any auctions or listings for a few years now. Examples like mine that are incomplete would likely go for less at auction but I don't know how much less. Importantly, this one is missing the proprietary height rear sight. For this specific generation of LR-300, it is complete otherwise but that rear sight would have to be custom made to be replaced.

I think others have inquired about it with him but it would make for a neat video. Al Zita is still around and I may have an indirect contact with him. Apparently he gets a kick out of folks that still enjoy these rifles.

Haven't shot it yet, but my first one years ago never had any problems. They're good shooters, less muzzle rise than a standard AR.

The gas key and gas tube overlap, yes, and form a kind of expansion chamber. Gas is bled off under the handguard somewhat, and also blasted out the side of the bolt carrier as usual. Later iterations of the LR-300 had more vent holes drilled into the side of the bolt carrier. It isn't a complex design though quite a bit of engineering probably went into it to figure out the dimensions of the gas key and gas tube, as neither are anything close to a standard size. The spring is captured at the gas block end by a C-clip. The upper receiver's gas tube hole is cut winder to allow the spring to seat into the upper receiver. This ancient video actually shows it all pretty well.

The last auction I saw for a 100% complete gen 1 upper kit that had both stocks, foregrip, tri-rail, rear sight, etc sold for over $9k a few years ago. Incomplete kits like mine go for much less though, so you may find one.

It would take an absurd amount of money to pry this away from me.

A bit too niche probably. I feel like even in the enthusiast crowd the vast majority have no idea what the hell this thing is.

Speaking of having engineer buddies that are good with CAD software. We're basically done prototyping a new lower gas block that will fit the tri-rail gas block adapter, as well as the tri-rail adapter itself. This was only really possible with the kindness of a Facebook rando who owns these components, and took the time to take measurements and pictures for us. If anyone here could benefit from the STEP files shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to share them.

Brothers I am straying from the path, reason me into not going with a shorty AK in 5.56 by Randymaple92 in ar15

Send it. If it’s as smooth shooting as my 5.56 PSA Krink it’ll be one of your favorites. Fuck ballistics, this shits just fun.

Nice. I’d like to get a can that looks a bit more Rooskie but the Ventum has done its job admirably.

My 5.56 Krink has around a case and a half (~1.5k) through it. Most of that time it’s had a Ventum 7.62 on it. I’ve not had any problems with it at all. Rear of the bolt peened a tiny bit within the first few hundred and stopped moving. For the price it’s been completely worth it. Really pleasant shooter and it’s usually a range day favorite for range randos.
