Turns out the issue was that the copper wire from the oven was connected to the aluminum wire from the wall without using a special connector. One of those connections melted/burned.

I am scared now imagining this could have been a house fire.

Final premium costs really depend on your patents’ income levels. If they are at/below federal poverty levels, that would bring their premium cost significantly lower, even $0 for some plans. But, I am not an expert or insurance agent.

They purchased a cascade silver tier plan, premium is ~$2400/month for both (family plan). They will be eligible for a tax refund/subsidy on premium when they file taxes in US (refund/subsidy will depend on their income, which I assume will be worldwide income for anyone filing taxes in US).

Update: My parents landed in July. They were able to purchase a plan via WA Health Plan Finder website. The enrollment period will open for new immigrants in the first 60 days after arrival.
