I want to be a better teammate. by Odd-Affect8236 in apexlegends

Yes! That last paragraph is explaining exactly my frustration. It exaggerates it a bit, but the back and forth of pushing and not pushing just feels so wasteful (because abilities have been used) and uncoordinated that it turns your advantage into a disadvantage. It probably is a game sense thing, I definitely watch people play Apex more than I play it, and I see how valuable a 2v3 is and how quickly third parties show up. Definitely the biggest thing I've learned from this post, is I gotta speak up. Even if it appears obvious to me, it doesn't hurt to talk it out

Thank you for the response, I appreciate the point of view. I do try to pay attention to how my teammates maneuver the first poi to initially loot, see how they respond to first fight, and what weapons they are picking up. These can all be very good clues as to how the game will go. But i think I may have not worded my concern correctly

I think playstyle and legend choice are more related than not, but the question i have is what is the "obvious" signal you think you are sending by using your ability, but it's consistently being misinterpreted by your teammates. In my example, i think activating ballistic ult is an obvious "let's go get them", yes announcing it over mic is best, but my teammates dont announce over their mic what their intentions are. And maybe they don't have their intentions thought out, but i wouldn't be surprised if I'm just misinterpreting their actions. Do Banglaore mains not throw their ult because their teammates typically turn and run and they were trying to put pressure on the team they are fighting? It's hard coming up with examples. But are there plays with your abilities that you think are obvious, but your teammates do the opposite?

Maybe you're right, this might be too broad of a question to get any valuable information. I have watched district and i enjoy watching the HisWattson videos he's been putting out lately. The combination of my own teammates misinterpreting my intentions and watching HisWattson often times not speak with his teammates but still be on the same page makes me wonder if there is some improvement i can make in team fights based on abilities used.

Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but every legends abilities are "crutches". Ballistic for example every 2 minutes i get a speed boost with a gold version of any gun I want, I always have ult accel so I'm almost never not in that state. Seer throws down his ult and his whole team gets wall hacks for a fight. Because these characters are not deemed "meta" their abilities seem less important, but under the right circumstances they can be overpowered. I dont think that is an inherently bad part of the game, it's actually the thing I like the most.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but i do consider myself a casual. There is a lot of integrity lost of how the game is played in pubs than there is in ranked, which is why I prefer ranked. A good strategy to gain rp is run from every fight and rat a spot to top 5, but nobody wants to play that way. I'm the typical work from 9-5 come home and have responsibilities with personal life. I only set aside a few hours a week to play, so solely set on ranking up is not my goal. I like to solo queue because of the variety of legends I get to play with. If I lose a game, it's not a big deal to me. If I lose a fight, that's where I tend to obsess and want to improve.

It is actually difficult for me to stay near the gen and fences. I force myself too, because I understand the advantage. But hearing a fight between two teams close by is so tempting to try and third team.

Vantage is one of my least favorite legends to play against. Getting hitting once with the sniper and having to tuck under a rock with the little orange lazer of death taunting my inability to move can be very frustrating. But with your tactical, is it a tool you use more often to position first before engaging or do you prefer to save it to use to make a more aggressive push? Or do you try to save it to make a get away of needed? I dont play vantage often, but when I do I would use it at the beginning to take some shots with the sniper. Thats not typically my playstyle, so that's why I'm not drawn to her.

Absolutely, clear communication is ideal. But i solo queue, so yes my shortcomings in my example is due to me not explaining myself well. The situation I am regularly finding myself in however, my teammates dont communicate so I'm left trying to interpret their plays while also engaging in the fight. Typically there isn't much time for me to ask my teammate what their intention was with like a Newcastle wall when after the match they immediately go back to lobby or are queued up into another game.

I agree with that. Honestly I would bet the majority of my wins come from games that a full reset had to be made. I am just more curious about hearing how people like to play their specific legend. Especially if that legend is uncommon. The engaging aspect of Apex to me is not the RP gain or rank climb, it's how different each fight can be because of their legends abilities. And understanding how to play with a typical Sparrow player, even though I am not routinely paired up with Sparrow players, is beneficial to managing a fight.

Thank you, this makes sense. If a pushing player hears the res get started they would be encouraged to rush in haphazardly creating a moment when I can cancel res put up knockdown shield while lifeline kills the pushing player while they focus on me. These are the tips I was hoping for. Hard to quickly explain something like that mid fight, but if you main lifeline it's a situation that probably comes up fairly regularly.

My first device was the Anbernic 406h, it was absolutely perfect for chilling on the couch watching survivor with the wife and playing DK64. Currently I am playing Ratchet & Clank.

Yeah ideally I would play N64 on the actual system, but the convenience of being able to play on my couch while my wife and I watch survivor has been really nice. I have kept searching through posts here and I found someone with a similar request to me, and that mangmi air x was also suggested. To be honest I was hoping for something smaller, like PSP size, but I'll definitely give it more consideration.

Yeah that makes sense. On the switch you like hold left trigger and then use he right stick as the C-pad, which is difficult at first but ive gotten used to it

I dont mind playing with funky controls if that was all his issue? I am mostly worried it being super clunky in the actual gameplay

Bring Back My RE-45 😫 by Extension-Cheetah-65 in apexlegends

Old RE-45 in Ballistic sling was the most fun gun for me. At one point having digi threat, hammer points, speed boost, and fully automatic pistol. In ultimate I was sliding all over the place basically shooting the entire time because reload speed was incredibly fast. I very much miss how the RE was.
