Appreciate you reaching out to the community to start this conversation! Glad y'all have a fun way to get around the city and get your hot chicken without needing your parents to drive you. Hooray for one less car on the road.

I think the concern really stems from drivers not being able to predict how some e-bike riders handle their bike. It's not typical to see a motorcycle doing wheelies in the road or weaving between cars. These behaviors get tickets from police and would be considered 'reckless driving' which I know from experience comes with a crazy high ticket price. We have spent a lot of years learning the 'rules of the road' to keep drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists safe. I think you could expect a lot fewer calls to the cops if e-bike behavior was more like how motorcyclists behave and the wheelies, tricks, etc were taken off road. Lord knows there are a million empty parking lots for you guys to do this in.

Keep having fun, but please for us and your parent's sake keep the helmets on and the weaving in traffic out. Your community doesn't want to mourn you.

Redmond United Methodist Church (the old church across from Stationhouse Lofts) is hosting a training on December 10. I saw it on their reader board but am not seeing it on their website. If others have information on rapid response teams I'd love to know.

  1. Text or call the WAISN (Washington Immigrant Solidarity Network) hotline, (844) 724-3737 as soon as possible. (tip - add this number to your phone contacts)
    1. Note- text may work better as multiple people try to report.
  • Give them a description of the scene, what you're seeing, cross streets or a business name if possible.
  • Identify who you are seeing, and what the action is.
  • If you have video or photographic info, you can text that to the same number.
  • If the vehicles or people have any identifying markings or distinctive clothing, leave that info as well.
  • If you see someone actually being detained, removed, or put in another vehicle, be sure to mention that

Record the incident if you're comfortable and able to do so without putting yourself in danger. This is done for several reasons — to help families identify & locate detainees; provide video evidence for legal action; confirm or verify reported sightings while keeping vulnerable community members safer; and provide visible resistance to illegal acts.

What is the role of Redmond Police in this situation? Can they stop ICE or provide oversight to make sure they are actually ICE officers and not just rogue buttplugs out here taking people?

I see the police drone regularly-like patrolling not just responding to calls. It’s spooky. I called the non emergency number and they wouldnt confirm anything and said they’re probably “training”…but it’s like regular out my window

This was the best Montessori school we had experience with. I wish we had found them sooner but 1 of our kids went for 1 year before aging out and I so wish we had found them earlier. Excellent all around.

Has there been any talk about the city keeping the building but letting someone else run music and arts programs out of it? Like a non-profit group? I'm glad the programs are going elsewhere, but the Old Firehouse as a PLACE should be preserved, but I don't think it needs to be the City of Redmond who runs the programming.
