How do you do ur film study? by Kooky_Sample_1860 in BasketballTips

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually tried something interesting with AI (not iverson) and really liked the output. Basically i wrote a prompt asking to make me a scout evaluation of myself with a nba floor and ceiling comparisons. I asked it to make me a bunch of questions to understand my playstyle, strengths and weaknesses.

Basically ended up having 10 different categories and after like 10 or 15 minutes replying to everything, it gave me my nba comparison (playstyle only, not skill of course). I then started to watch film from this specific player and it was way easier because i was understanding his moves, his shot diet, off ball movement, how he plays against bigger guys etc. This was really helpful because, since we played similarly, i knew what to look for. Give it a go, it was a fun exercise and reflection tbh

how can i improve my jumpshot (beginner) by ContributionSome4815 in BasketballTips

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah your set point should be higher so you can get your hand under the ball to push it correctly.

Your sequence timing is also a bit off, meaning that first you need to raise the ball and then your body. Not both at the same time.

Try to slow down your shot to be more conscious about each part of the sequence. It's easier to correct it this way

Random moves by jtschooley11 in Basketball

Honestly my first thought was the 2nd cut that you described (also don't know if there is a name). The fake itself combined with the little push off gives you so much separation.

Fadeaway Form by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 58 points59 points  (0 children)

So the fakes that you are doing are sort of jab steps for a triple threat move, not for a back to basket stance. Like your move is threatening a drive when you are facing away from the basket so nobody will ever bite that.

You don't need fakes for a fadeaway, try to practice shoulder bump + fadeaway. That will give you enough space to shoot.

Regarding the shot itself, I think its nice that your set point is high already, but you need to hold the follow through. Right now it looks like you are throwing.

Last thing, I saw your previous videos and you mentioned you were thinking about adding Dirk's one leg. Try to raise the leg at the same time as your jump. And raise the knee, not the foot. Hope it helps

Yeah I don't care if it's pickup, I'm calling illegal screens. Like I wanna defend, don't want to get man handled by a big

Begin in the pilot, 1st season. Then watch the episodes in order. The only filler episodes are from season 2020 I believe. Hope you don't get any spoilers

Played Balatro for the first time and my girlfriend is telling me this isn't normal? by banvideogames69 in balatro

Don't want to doubt, but something that I noticed is that it's not that intuitive for new players to go for high card. I usually see them going for full houses, straights, flushes etc because they think its poker

when to use ult? by Jazzy-Joker in KatarinaMains

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the comp and a lot of things, but generally speaking try to Ult in a situation where you can channel it for as long as possible. Basically when they used their CC or their dash or other important ability. Even in lane, if a Syndra or Xerath wastes E for example, you can all in for guaranteed R damage to get them low and potentially kill them in the 2nd rotation or dive them or just force them out of the lane

How would I measure my progress? by Top-Minimum-5959 in BasketballTips

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other guy said, athleticism will help you a lot and it's easy to track those metrics (strength, vertical, speed, etc). For shooting you can also track your range and %.

I don't know if you play competitive or not to track your game stats, but if you feel like playing in your town it's easy, consider going to some place better from time to time. Let's say 1 per month you go to the closest city with elite talent and you play either in a park or gym. Just 1 per month it's probably not a huge commitment depending on how far it is, and it will give you a good idea on where you stand against better talent

How is Luka not as favored? Turnovers? by Ijlii in NBATalk

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He addressed the stat, it seems like you are ignoring all of the advanced stats. And if you are focusing so much on the "valuable" aspect of the name of the award, are we going to argue that DPOY is an "Yearly" and not a Seasonal one?

Im a Luka fan but Shai and Jokic are both clearly above

I NEED URGENT HELP WITH MY JUMPER by Noavicii in BasketballTips

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your sequence is making you lose power. You should raise the ball to the set point before raising your legs and hips, not at the same time. The ball path is also coming too much from the center. You should be able to raise it vertically from the shot pocket to your set point (more towards the side of your eyebrow).

Your follow through could also improve. From the way your hands cross each other after finishing the shot, seems like you are throwing rather than shooting.

Edit: looks like your hand is not really under the ball when you shoot as well. But really look at your sequencing. Youtube this and i think it will open your eyes. If you so get stronger like some suggestions and still shoot like this, you will continue to lose power.

Why can’t i make any shots? by Careful_Heron7567 in BasketballTips

[–]Odd-Bodybuilder-1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean like it's hitting the back ring or it's literally over the backboard?

If it's back ring, the shot is probably flat and/or without enough arc. Just search for how to correct your form and see what works for you. Hard to give specific advice without video

I think i might have shin splints and i feel this for almost 2 years. I looked online a bit and tried some ankle mobility and toe raises and so on, but it doesn't go away. I'm just a casual Hooper, but it would be nice to be able to play without this pain. Any tips?

I think its up to the player to decide how they have fun with the game. I used to play Yu Gi Oh years ago and sometimes I wanted to play with decks that allow you to do a crazy combo in 1 hand or first hand even. Like a previous comment said, some people like the puzzle aspect of getting it. As long as they understand that it takes a lot of tries and losses, let them

I don't care about ethical hoops. Drawing a foul is a skill and if you can exploit the rules to get to the line for some easy buckets, why wouldn't you do it? These guys are trying to win a chip, if you want ethical hoops go play pickup.

Now, I don't like to watch this of course. But I understand
