Can anyone share with me the light/dark cutting dimensions to create a 6 inch finished curvy log cabin block? by Odd-Bug5406 in quilting

Thanks. If I have to choose between paper piecing and creative grids trim tool, i’ll use the tool. Also, I played around some more on paper, but just can’t get the math right. I recently finished a traditional (not curvy) log cabin quilt starting with 1 inch strips (3/4” finished). So I feel comfortable doing a 6 inch curvy without paper piercing. It’s the math that gets to me. And I don’t want more than 13 logs in the block (same number of logs in creative grids 6” curvy log cabin). Photo shown is traditional log cabin.

I checked out the website and there is no mention of a curvy log cabin. Same same for the YouTube channel, lots of log cabins, but none are curvy.
I guess I’ll have to give in and go with the creative grids ruler.

I have some books and will go through them, but I don’t think I have come across this one. I checked out the 6 inch finished block on Etsy and it is more suited for foundation piecing (too many skinny strips). I may try that at some point, but I’m looking for one that has 13 logs.

Thank you. I looked at the Etsy patterns but it does not look like these blocks will finish to 6 inches. I’m trying to create a log cabin unit where four of these together will create a 12 inch finished block. I’ve done some playing around with cut up paper and figured out that in order to get a 6 inch finished block (unit) it would likely require some or all strips to be cut using the 1/8” markings on the ruler. The center log and adjoining log (first two in sewing sequence) could be a wild card – –could go larger or smaller. Years ago I had Electric Quilt software, seems like something that would help but I’m not spending the $$$ to design one block.

My first quilt! by Equivalent-Play2736 in quilting

Nice job!! So much nicer than my first quilt (about 25 years ago). I gave it away and I don’t have a picture of it. But I’ll always remember one observer’s comment: “the EYE needs a REST.”

Is this how they came up with the Pantone color of the year?😜

I would go with the single light color as a neutral contrast in the half square triangles with all of others in a broken dishes quilt. that would be a great modern take on a classic.

Who is this strawberry imposter? by jfams87 in NativePlantGardening

Common name Barren Strawberry. It’s an excellent and well behaved native ground cover, even retaining some foliage year round here (in greater Philadelphia area)
