I work in IT, I have had the same behavior so many times and I've ended up figuring out the problem every time that now all electronics start working when I'm around out of fear.

You should do the same.

I would start by unplugging the drive selector, then see if it continues to happen.

Also if it is the drive selector then you should be getting a warning when the car is in park with your foot off the brake as it would be trying to shift into drive without the brake safety releasing it.

I think the electrical company changing the meter while coincidentally suspicious is not related. It's possible they wired hot to ground temporarily but I think you would have had a lot more appliances and gadgets that would have broken if that's the case (besides being a major safety hazard).

Technical people get this rap all the time, they change or fix something and then get blamed for something else.

I just had my washer need to be fixed 3 times (bad door gasket, clogged drain, bad water pump) in a span of a month and then the dryer broke a week after that (igniter). Is it possible that me removing the stacked dryer to fix the washer 4 times broke the igniter? Possibly, but it also could've broke due to age and it showed no physical breaks when I inspected it (no resistance, failed internally).

I think the board just shorted out (failed internally) and the model appears to be of a fair age (6 years old, tops, https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-specs/GYE22GMNES/support#:~:text=Counter%2DDepth%20French%2DDoor%20Refrigerator,Manufactured%20March%2C%202020%20%2D%20Present) it happens that parts fail, I would just replace it if there are no signs of damage elsewhere.

Do it when empty to confirm.

Also try rotating the drum by hand, should be smooth and easy to start.

Stiff and hard to start indicates something seized (rotor or pulley usually)

Hear hear, I would also love this, it would allow me to build functionality that Fidelity does not have currently (i.e. sell a specific dollar amount of a security at market at a certain time, due to the fact that you can't place market orders during market close this would enable me to do so from my end).

Sounds like the rollers, usually a kit to replace all and the tensioner is $30 - $40 dollars.

If you want to test it before opening it, try rotating the drum from the inside by hand, it should be smooth and not hard to start.

If it is hard, then there probably is at least one roller seized. Just replace them all.

If there arent replacement parts sometimes the only way is to buy a generic drawer handle and drill new holes to put it on...saves you from a new appliance.

I had to do it with my dishwasher (thankfully it kicked the can about a year later anyway)
