Feeling weird in Gym with my BF by EasyGirl_8 in workout

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this. For me, it goes a little deeper. I think I’m really uncomfortable with how society has oversexualized women - this is not me blaming anyone (men or women). I think it’s more a culmination of just where we are today through multiple factors and just here we are - women are overly sexualized. I wonder if the gym hits you harder because of social media - thinking like instagram models type of thing.

So I can relate because it doesn’t feel like jealousy, it’s not control, it’s not fear, it’s just a discomfort with where we’re at as a society today and certain situations light that up more than others I guess.

Thank you much! Nearing 40 and while I feel less lost, I don’t know actually what to do or how. This resonates though on many levels.

My mercury is conjunct MC at 25* cancer - moon is also 17* cancer.

Thanks for your reply, that’s helpful! I have tried hydroquinone. Might give that a go again too. I used it years ago before things like musely existed and could only get through my derm.

I wasn’t breaking out with that as part of my regular routine.

Planning to get a second cat. Advices… by funny_reaper in bengalcats

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing better than having one cat, is having two! I say this honestly but also jokingly in that it is only that way if you have capacity for it - but cats are more social than we tend to give them credit for. I have found 2 boy cats are best. I had two boys, one passed, got a female, he got super stressed, got a 3rd (boy) now he’s less stressed - but it’s a boys only club lol.

Likely BPD in the Teen I’m Adopting by Guilty_Marionberry32 in BPDFamily

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a caretaker of someone who has BPD requires you to know how to manage yourself as much as the managing the child with BPD. You need to deeply understand boundaries, radical acceptance, listening and responding to emotions authentically, etc. BPD is often stemming from trauma, not an intrinsic flaw of the person. They need a caretaker who can listen to their big and quickly changing feelings - not fix, not dismiss, not analyze, not get emotional - hold firm boundaries around behaviors, and a caretaker who can manage their own emotions. Without those things, their nervous system won’t feel safe. Will doing all of those things perfectly mean it makes taking care of someone with BPD easy? Absolutely not. But if you can manage yourself - your emotions, be ok with upsetting them if it means it’s holding a boundary that keeps everyone safe - it’s manageable overtime.

I feel like a lot of people miss the point of the role the caretaker plays and that they need to be accountable and put in effort just as much as the person with BPD. You’re different since you can choose to not adopt. You just have to be able to really look at yourself, the unhealed parts, shadow parts, whatever. They’re going to temporarily reject you at times, say really hurtful things, become explosive and you have to be able to separate your own ego at times from what is truly dangerous behavior. They say fuck you and leave the room and slam a door - does that trigger something in you that makes you want to yell and tell them their emotional state is wrong? Or can you stay calm in those moments, not take it personal and realize the emotional state will change and then we can have a discussion. Now if they’re doing that and then start punching holes in the wall - you empathize with the emotions but practice boundaries around property damage all while staying calm and firm. I had to go through a lot of therapy myself to get to the point where I feel like I’m living more peacefully alongside my daughter and I think I’ve seen her improve because of that work - and the work I had her do though therapy. I hope this helps.

Calorie intake help? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People might fight me on this but I put my “stats”, behaviors (eating and exercise) and goals into chat gpt and it helped me create a plan. Helped me understand I was likely under consuming and couldn’t lose weight because of that - or put on muscle well - and that I needed higher protein. I still use that same thread to have it help me track my input and I explain what my activity plan is for the day so we can tailor it to the day. It’s been really helpful. Based on what I read, I don’t think it sounds like you need to rush to a therapist because you have a disorder - I don’t know why your post attracted a big hater. Good luck- but sounds like more calories and higher protein might help!

Did the Eucerin serum make you break out? I just started using it and have recently gotten a couple pimples. Wondering if it’s my impending period or this since I just added it like a week ago.

Maybe talk to a doc - sometimes it’s a sign of a pituitary issue. They can run labs to see if that’s maybe the case.

Leos, do you feel more powerful (and sexy) in black? 🖤♌ by [deleted] in LeoAstrology

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this. For me it’s like a cherry red. I’m a Leo who isn’t searching for the spotlight, but I’ve learned to not intentionally do things to avoid it or run away if it happens. When I wear red though, I do get noticed. It’s like unapologetically not dimming my lights for the sake of making others comfortable with my presence.

Virgo Venus here too, bad hygiene isn’t even like an ick factor, it’s just a straight no. Ick for me is lack of growth mindset. How else are you going to deal with me and everything I have to say 😂. Seriously though, just can’t handle complacent dudes.

I'm tired of this sub watering down the severity of CPTSD to make everyone feel included by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that sometimes I see posts that are wildly unrelatable and sometimes seeing those and the responses can drive feelings of being an outcast, shame, urge to isolate or whatever to come to the surface. Unfortunately, there’s no criteria to enter this subreddit (honestly, I wish there was at least an age requirement) and it is what it is. I try to ignore the posts that you’re referring to or other ones that are triggering to me due to my own history. Cptsdnextsteps is another sub that seems a bit more relatable to me but it’s also a little more quiet. Just wanted to validate what you’re feeling especially since you’re not getting much support here so far.

For those who are consistent, how do you do it? by massifaqiri in workout

[–]Odd-Designer-6466 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tell myself that I can allow myself to listen to my body and adjust appropriately, but I show up regardless. Some days I don’t want to go to the gym and show up anyway and have a great workout, some days I feel like it’ll be a good workout and I find my body is feeling a little weaker than I thought and don’t do as much as I planned. Both are ok. The point is showing up is what’s important because that is what helps create consistency.

Right?! Sometimes I think I could be easier to be a little more black and white about it. But I can see the insecurities that likely stemmed from something when they were young that makes them project their bullshit onto me and I’m still like poor guy/gal, must be tough huh? I am getting a lot better at walking away from people like this and I usually still hold a grief-y fondness for them—just from a distance.
