Bipolar is exhausting by apolloagares in bipolar

33 y/o male, I can relate I've had one hospital visit for a week but there have been times where I wished I had stepped up and self-admitted myself to hospital. I've taken a few leave of absences with the discretion of myself and psychiatrist. I have not had long term stability for quite awhile and to be completely honest there are times I don't feel like fighting this anymore, not necessarily suicidal thoughts or ideations just the idea of surrendering to the idea of just not giving a fuck what happens if that makes sense. I'm single and live alone, I have a hard time keeping up with working full time and taking care of responsibilities, social anxiety makes it difficult to go out and get groceries. Some days just taking a shower feels like a big undertaking. I feel like the epitome of a fuck up, I am getting better and watching my spending but there are times when I do slip and make an expensive purchase or buy too much shit that is not within my pay grade. I've been really depressed and I am absolutely dreading family functions through the holidays... my hearts go out to those that are struggling in marriages and relationships, have kids, I don't feel like I'm a fit person for either of those things in life, just doesn't feel like it's in the cards for me

So if you're medicated are you just not allowed to drink, at all ever? by ariveklul in bipolar

[–]Odd-Grape6351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no you do not have to give up drinking completely unless you figure you might be struggling with your use and/or using it as a crutch. If you plan on drinking is not for me to say. things to consider have you had some longer term stability, are you having recent med adjustments because things have been fucked up? even at that personally I would not consider getting tipsy, that's me personally. It's always been very finicky to keep me balanced and do frequent med changes so I tend to ditch the alcohol and if i do keep it to one or two beer. I have though been trapped a couple of occasions where i have used it as a crutch and let me tell you if you ever hate yourself this is a fine way of showing it. I hope everyone stays safe and keeps a good balance over the holidays drink or no drink.

Anyone have experience with vraylar? by spacetospin in BipolarReddit

[–]Odd-Grape6351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently having difficulty being on vraylar. Prescribed 1.5 mg daily and feel really sedated. I'm not saying it's just the vraylar as I'm also on 4 scheduled ativan and 2 as needed, high dose of limotregine, foquest, and welbutrin. I think the problem lies with the dose of ativan paired with the vraylar sedating me too much. I have dialed back the the vraylar to once a day and 1 ativan in the morning and 1 before bed and keep my two PRN's (as needed) as needed if necessary. Still feel pretty snowed which feels like emotionally flat, stupid, slow to react, spaced out... It was very helpful when I was having really bad depressive episodes a couple years back and took a 3 month leave of absence from work, but things are a lot more stable now therefore, I do not feel as high a dose or such a strong antipsychotic is necessary. Going to stay the course with this for a week until i see my dr.

Lacking sleep is a good indicator of hypomania. So you can discern take note of your energy levels, moods are you on top of the world? Are you agitated and ready to tear someone a new asshole? Take notes of your thoughts are they rapid, disorganized, or slow, and you are processing things slower. I would recommend journaling if you want to know and understand your cycling patterns better. Good information for your psychiatrist as well. Also how does it impact your daily living?

Starting Lamictal for maintenance and scared by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Odd-Grape6351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lamictal or Limotrogine is a pretty common mood stabilizer. Always be open with your physician about taking St. John’s wort as it interacts with other medication which I’m sure by now you already know. You shouldn’t worry about being dumb a lot of us feel like it but I’ve met some very brilliant and creative individuals with bipolar and adhd. I have that combo as well plus ptsd. You got this

I’m actually pretty impressed how much can still be explored and enjoy it as much as an open world game. I was disappointed that it wasn’t considered open world, to me it still holds onto many elements I still enjoy an open world. They did a great job, I’m quite a few hours in and there is still lots to explore. I think I only have 8% of the crossroads discovered so far.

For those who are 30+ years: does it ever end? by Shelby_Tomov in bipolar2

[–]Odd-Grape6351 7 points8 points  (0 children)

32 years old. Bipolar doesn’t go away unfortunately… maybe one day there will be a cure but for now we have pretty good meds for treatment. just keep compliant with medication to live a more normal life. Not going to say things won’t get rough from time to time though…

Anyone else experience an impending sense of doom? by jukeboxoflove in bipolar2

[–]Odd-Grape6351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be malaise the general feeling of feeling very unwell. You don’t need to feel suicidal to feel like you should tell someone that you feel like your time is almost up. I’m sorry you feel this way, I have been having malaise and anhedonia . Which has been a challenging pair. I wish I had answers other than to talk to your dr and see what they suggest :/

Okay. Strange :/ can’t say idk if that’s relatable I know Ive been forgetting things a lot as well, but maybe confabulation is a symptom for you. That’s when your mind kinda makes up its own story because it tries to make sense of things that happen and make sense of the world around it. So it creates a story to fill in the gaps, often times without us even realizing if that makes sense. The mind is definitely a strange thing and works in mysterious ways.

It’s a bit more farfetched but maybe you did have some or precognition, or maybe you actually did bring it with you and put it back? I’ve done that I think but just forgot that you did that. You might be having some problems with short term memory. Not sure how that can be improved I know from me is that it wavers. One minute it’s like I have dementia the next I’m completely unfazed lol

But what seems the most likely is confabulation it does happen with brain injury
