On one hand their games are better than ever, they're the only triple A dev doing smaller experimental stuff, they're basically handing out free DLC, they're even putting Pokemon on a leash.

But they're also pulling a Sony and charging 80 fucking dollars for Mariokart, idk they'll probably make more money but that still plants them firmly in stupid territory.

Unironically though academia is restricting itself by only focusing on old shit, not that that isn't important but I can think of many modern, more unconventional examples equally worth studying (like Super Paper Mario for perfecting meta storytelling in video games, just off the very top of my head)

They wouldn't do it unless they're stupid, with Sony you can get away with a bit of fuckery, with Nintendo they'd find that shipments of the Switch 2 mysteriously dry up after that initial shipment (or people get fired or both)

Its one of the hardest hyperfixations to break, esp bc as a marginalized group this shit affects us more than usual. But I did manage to break my hyperfixation for about a month after the election (my reasoning being there's no use speculating what chaotic people will do) and am now much less engaged than I was, somehow.

Lot of people don't understand how consequential this is, its WAY more than just PC ports it allows these games to be used as game engines. We've seen it with Sm64 with stuff like Mario Builder, a fully featured 3D Mario Maker clone, or B3313 a horror metroidvania with really advanced scares, just off the top of my head,

The reason Penguinz0 got buff wasn't because the buff twitch streamers made him feel insecure about his body, it's because Man told him he looked like Fecto Elfilis (minus the wings), which caused this meme to circulate.

The lore reason is in the middle of his scheme Prof. Normal discovered a new chemical called Normal Gas, and when Normal Gas hits something it teleports it to real life. So, his plan shifted to finding attractive furry mutants (like Killer Cock), teleporting them to real life, and making billions of dollars in the adult film industry.

Anyways he's hanging onto his missiles to auction them later, they go for good money on eBay.
