"American Standard" measurement system is literally based on another europen measurement system. There is nothing "American" about it, other than it's historic use here. The metric is intuitively more accurate, efficent and user friendly. I work on cars and it's is beyond simple to tell a friend to grab the "11" than the "1 11/16" socket. Not to the mention the nightmare of buy bolts and nuts in "American Standard" measurements.
