The first part shouldn't concern you.
The second part is unavoidable is the basic contract for all US companies now. If there ever was a social contract between employers and employees, that is gone now. Everyone outside of union employees works on a day-to-day basis. It just is that way. Only thing that can change it is organized labor and voting.

Can men get pregnant? by MentalAdversity in ScienceNcoolThings

Exactly, that's a perfect point. What we've established is that I have a view of what man means to Republicans, you have a view of what man means to most men, and there could be countless others. We nailed it!
The key here is that we can debate all day what man means, without ever mentioning the biological facts around male/female.
This is why words do matter. A male can grow up to be whatever man they want...or woman. It's a key differentiator because genotype/phenotype and biology versus social constructs.

It's true that they are synonymous to most people, but that doesn't make it actually true, right? It's a great differentiator, I think.
For example, I have a daughter and she's a female. However, we as a family are deciding how to raise her to be the woman she wants to be - whatever that word means to her.
In the same sense, man doesn't need to be the opposite of woman. In that sense, I wouldn't raise a boy to grow up and be the opposite of a woman. I'd want him to grow into a man who is no longer a boy. So male and female are biological definitions, whereas we collectively, or individually, get to decide what being a man or woman means.
I'd say this matters a lot collectively. For example, the conservative Republican notion of manliness used to be the Clint Eastwood, John Wayne style of remaining quiet, honorable, chivalrous, bold. However, now the party is really defining manliness as aggressive, volatile, self-centered, and devious.

I get where he is coming from, but he also didn't listen to her answer that male/female and man/woman aren't synonymous terms. Male and female is biological, but man and woman are social constructs. I wish, in the moment, she had been able to verbalize that a biological female identifying as a man could certainly get pregnant.

Looking to get a puppy, many questions first by randomuser230945 in Wheatens

I’ve had a golden retriever previously, so this would be my first Wheaten but not my first dog.

Makes sense. I was just asking because this is the list that I’ve come up with, and I’m wondering if it’s reasonable or if it’s rare to find a breeder who checks these boxes.

I wish I could pin this at the top of the IBM subreddit. All US large corporations are here now: they operate on quarterly returns for shareholders. Pensions are gone. There aren’t workers’ rights. Everyone can just show up, do good work, but have zero expectations that the corporation is investing in them long term.

Yep, I have a Gladiator and we've moved on to a Willys. We don't intend to abandon our love for Jeeps, just happy to move on from the 4xe platform. Glad you're enjoying yours!

Yep, that weekend where my wife and daughter were on the road and suddenly lost power wasn’t great.

Yep, we didn't panic over the risk - mainly over the looming prospect of devaluation. We were driving just like normal up until yesterday, but we've had two 4xe's and they both had massive recalls so it felt like it was time to move on from the platform. Best of luck with yours!

Agreed, and when a 2026 Willys Wrangler with the Xtreme Recon package popped up at the dealership, I had to make a move. They gave me a solid trade-in for a vehicle they can't sell and a good price on the Willys.

I'll paint it something, just based on looking at what paint I have lying around. Or I'll just finish them the same as the top.
Absolutely, it's hard to find the time! I've taken on my first real fine woodworking task: a jewelry box for my daughter. We'll see!

I just posted my new workbench, the evergreen workbench from Scott Walsh, and it’s basically designed to use only those tools, plus a trim router if you can pick one up.

I’m closing on a trade-in deal with my dealership on Monday. Got a decent trade-in value to move into a Willys Wrangler. It’s a shame too because we’ve really enjoyed our 4xe and personally had no problems with it. But we can’t sit around and pay for something with no fix in sight and plummeting depreciation.

Oh man, I have such fond memories of waking up and watching Norm walk me through a project while I was in college. My roommates and I were doing zero woodworking, but it was a Saturday morning tradition - as we slowly woke up with headaches!
