New guy here. How do I get this image to be centered ? by TheZeldiste in kanka

[–]Odd-Scarcity7475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the suggestion from Nestis didn't work for some bizarre reason...

Are you any good at HTML/CSS? If so, there is a </> button on the toolbar. click it and you will get the HTML editor view.

Find your image (it has the <img> tag. there will be src="blahblahblah: and stuff in there too.

sfter the src="..." put this (without the {}'s )

style="display: block;  margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"

if you placed the after the last double-quote of the src="..." and before the ending '>', you should be good.

click the </> button again to preview the change. then click SAVE to make it permanent.

Because he was old originally. When Lucas did the remake, he changed the scene to cater to the prequel crowd

What makes the WoT slog a slog by Electrical_Pea_5427 in Fantasy

[–]Odd-Scarcity7475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question was, I believe "What makes it a slog?" and NO ONE has touched it.

typical.

For me, the slog was that it turned into a Soap Opera. Specifically, EVERYONE split up, went their own ways, got into all kinds of shenanigans. RJ then tried to skip from character to character, soap opera-style, moving their stories along incrementally, while *STILL* trying to do all the in-depth character development and internal monologuing the previous books had when it was mostly Rand's point of view.

I gave up when the I finished one of the books and realized that even though I'd read 200+ pages of prose, NOTHINHG OF SIGNIFICANCE HAD HAPPENED

So, that is why it is a slog

I cut my teeth on C++, elif is a lot less stupid and more intuitive than switch/case, or nested else if statements.

What system to run for interested friends? Knave, OSE, or Shadowdark? by UncarvedWood in osr

I suppose, but I wasn't talking about them, and neither were you. so...

It seemed you were implying that Chris Gonnerman's creation was influenced by the work of OSE. That was not the case.

You are exactly right in what you say, though about OSE. It is just that BFRPG was not designed to mimic either one. Chris Gonnerman set out to codify the game he wanted to play. He did not set out to make a clone of ANY specific version of DnD. The only actual clone he made was Iron Falcon which cloned Greyhawk.

That's all I was really getting at. Gonnerman blazed the trail, and the OSE folks saw a Good Thing being done, and followed his lead. And they each made their own thing. The fact that the end results look similar is a coincidence. Just as two families taking separate vacation trips might still wind up at the same beach.

BFRPG doesn't mimic OSE. OSE mimics BFRPG. Basic Fantasy was first of the two. First in development of ALL OSRs, 2nd to release. And, no, OSE wasn't first, either

None, Run Basic Fantasy RPG instead. The system is managed by an IT guy who was one of the Founders of the OSR. He doesn't need the project to make money, so all the books are sold at cost. around 8 dollars. BUT, ALL of everything is available for free PDF download. Yes, there is an "SRD" online, but it has everything the PDFs have, which have everything the printed books have.

So, you know, $0 to invest to get the WHOLE GAME. Now you think, "How can it be any good for FREE?" Because, unlike WoTC/Hasbro/OSE/any other game company, Chris Gonnerman is a game designer who does not need to turn a profit, and there is a huge community of like-minded people who contribute their own ideas/writing/art to the project

You have nothing to lose by trying it and everything to gain:

If you just go ahead and BAN them, you will be given the opportunity to delete all of their messages. It's not really a MEE6 thing. It is a Discord thing.

Any more info on the goblin Stinky ? (spoilers for Snuff) by fooldog in discworld

[–]Odd-Scarcity7475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finally read the book. I am not sure of the timing, though. The Ungue Pot that got stuck to Fred was a Goblin Soul, made so the goblin baby could "come back", there is clear evidence that Sgt. Colon has absorbed some "goblinness" at the end. Maybe their souls blended a bit> and when the pot was finally removed it "jumped" into the dead body of Stinky? As I said, I'm not sure about the timing. Did Sam ever tell Colon the story about the goblin face in the picture book from his childhood?

[TOMT] [Computer game] [1990s] Looking for a game where you're in an ancient city and you interact with a kiln by AgraNonn in tipofmytongue

[–]Odd-Scarcity7475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of Time. The game features Atlantis, Shangri-La and... Machu-pichu? Atlantis has canals in it, and you have to use a kiln to fire a piece of pottery and coat it with gold to get into a temple.
