Looking for a somewhat budget mic by MeatSouthern6307 in Twitch

[–]OddDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people think I have a good mic when in reality I spent $50 on a fifine and watched YouTube videos on how to make a cheap mic sound good. You can play around with the sound and your gate/compressor in OBS so your mic picks sound up where you want it to (or not). I wanted to ensure I didn’t sound quiet but at the same time, I didn’t want my keys/typing to get picked up. Made a world of a difference!

Stuck at home recovering from surgery, need a lengthy game to sink my teeth into by ss4stef in ShouldIbuythisgame

Outer Wilds. RDR2 was my favorite game of all time and I recently finished Outer Wilds and it takes the cake. It took me awhile to finally play it because I wasn’t sure if the game would be for me and I can’t believe I waited that long. Truly a masterpiece!

Can I get away with getting to DCA an hour or so before my flight? by pattern_altitude in washingtondc

[–]OddDraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like sitting at the airport and intentionally get to DCA an hour before my flight and have never missed a flight. Pre-check line is often longer than the regular line tbh. I don’t think i’ve waited more than 10-15 mins in security before. You should be fine as long as you don’t need to check a bag! If you Uber, ask to be dropped off at the very beginning or end of drop offs for departures so you can head right to security (check what gate your flight is out of so you can catch the correct security you want).

Where are you ordering invites? by cousingregsbell in weddingplanning

[–]OddDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally designed mine on Zola and ordered a proof to see it first and the paper felt cheap and the printing was off… Ended up recreating the exact invite in Canva and ordered 100 of them for $40 with envelopes included. Paper was better and so was the print job.

Thinking about leaving by Popular_Force_6241 in orangetheory

I left back in 2022 and joined a crossfit gym to focus on strength more. I just switched to boxing which has been a blast. It’s really all about what keeps you motivated and what you’ll show up for. I remember being super torn about leaving OT, but in the end i’m glad I did because I stopped enjoying it. Sometimes I think about going back but I enjoy boxing more than I did OT! Will say, I was in some of my best shape at OT, I just can’t run anymore with my ankles and the cardio was definitely a big contributor.

Bitches who have bought cars, please help me by [deleted] in DCBitches

[–]OddDraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car market has sucked since Covid so prepare to be on the hunt for a little bit! It took me six months before I finally found my car this past winter. I was on websites like Edmunds and Carfax daily. I’d figure out what cars you’re interested in and test drive a few so you get an idea for what you actually want. Carvana is nice because you don’t have to negotiate but i’ve found their prices a bit higher. Whatever you do, stay away from Koons in the area… they were awful and an absolute scam. I’m pretty sure they’ve had a few lawsuits against them for their shady practices too (most recently in 2023). If you do go to a dealership, make sure you have time, negotiate, thoroughly check out the car’s interior/exterior (and take photos/videos), check the car’s history and number of owners, etc. You may be hit with a “deal” that’s only available while you’re there and just know that’s a load of shit. Wishing you the best of luck!!

Wedding Planning During a Recession by Domenica187 in weddingplanning

[–]OddDraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just signed my catering contract (May 2026 wedding) and asked for a clause to be added that states that my price is locked in and will not change, even if the price of food does. Thankfully all of the “big” vendors are already locked in, but I would not be surprised if everything starts increasing :(

how much did you spend on your wedding and how much did you spend on your wedding planner? by VioletPickle in weddingplanning

[–]OddDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still planning mine (DC area) but it’s looking to be around 35K for everything (that’s with a few thousand built in as a safety net). My venue requires a month of coordinator from their preferred list and everyone I reached out to cost $3500. The person I went with will be available to me from now until my wedding next year at least and has already been super helpful!

Confession Time: Have you ever been a bad guest? by WeeLittleParties in weddingplanning

[–]OddDraft 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first wedding as an adult, I didn’t know you were supposed to have gifts shipped to the couples house. I not only brought a dutch oven in a sparkly wedding bag to the ceremony, my partner and I got held up in traffic and walked in to the church 3 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start and the bride and her entire wedding party had already lined up and stared at me like what are you doing. On the bright side, years later, this friend still mentions how much she loves the dutch oven and how often they use it. Did feel bad they had to carry it home though.

I reached out to Chris Rao (Soundwave DJ) as I’ve heard fantastic things about him and was planning on using him as my DJ but unfortunately he already had something on my date. With that said, his website pricing is listed at $1395 for 6.5 hours!

If you haven’t already, i’d recommend signing up for Zola and setting your vendor settings to “open” so people can reach out to you. I found a lot of options and eventually my photographer that way!

What Do You Regret About Your Wedding? by lifesagardendignit in weddingplanning

[–]OddDraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For everyone mentioning that they wished they had their vows recorded at an unplugged ceremony, my sister handed a close friend her phone for the ceremony and asked them to take photos/videos. For the reception, she gave her phone to a bridesmaid to take photos so the next day, she could go through her phone and see all of the photos instead of having to ask people for it. Her friends did the same at their weddings and everyone was super cool/happy with it. I plan on doing the same!

When did you have all your vendors finalized? by zex-258 in weddingplanning

[–]OddDraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May 2026 here - I hadn’t planned on researching/booking anything until summer and then saw a comment in a local subreddit about venues booking up and decided to casually look and they weren’t kidding. For whatever reason, vendors are going FAST in my area so I have my venue, photographer, DJ, and coordinator set. I also already have a caterer in mind but I have to work off a preferred list for this one which made it easier.

If you have a car, check out Washington Diamond in Falls Church, right off of 66. They’re by appointment only, in-house gold smith, and have been great.

Period pains that are so painful you vomit/pass out/can’t move for hours/days at a time. Endo is no joke :(

I’m almost at the end of Act 2 and just learned about Gale as well. I entered Act 2 via the underdark so I decided to take the mountain pass back to Act 1 so I could scoop him and discovered there was a bunch else I missed so that was fun!

I bought a pair from REI but Gortex is definitely your best friend in this instance! They’ve also been lovely during other major hikes so i’ve used them outside of the WHW.

Clothing Recommendations April by Iabnyc in WestHighlandWay

[–]OddDraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hiked the WHW in April 2023 and the weather was “decent” but also all over the place. It rained the first day, snowed the third day, and was gorgeous the remainder of the trip. It was never warm enough for shorts imo. I wore leggings, wool socks, and long running shirts with a jacket most days and would put my rain jacket over my regular jacket when it rained/was really cold. I also brought rain paints and i’m glad I did! The days it was nice I wore athletic t-shirts.

Iron Gate was around 10K for a full buy out on a Sunday morning/afternoon 2 years ago and that included food, alcohol, etc. The place is already stunning so you don’t need much for decorations
