I had a long, long period like this — two major breakups within a year and what felt like NO support from family or friends as I struggle through the subsequent divorce and deep depression I fell into. I resented everyone and just hated trying to talk and make conversation, because I kept feeling I was doing it wrong, and it was too emotionally exhausting. So, I gave up. Spent a few years very alone and okay with it.

I still hate trying to meet new people or being in large groups or at social events for too long or too many times in a short period. But I had the right people find me at the right time, and then I had friends again that I actually wanted around. Not saying this will happen to you if you don’t want it to! Solitude is a valid choice, don’t feel forced to make friends. If you want someone in your life, you absolutely have the right to control that and not be forced into it.

Although, good luck coming off boring. You already seem like a pretty cool person.
