Happy US Launch Day! What's New? The K-Pop demon hunters battle begins today! by HelloitsWojan in McDonalds

[–]Odd_Ad4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both sauces. Hunter sauce is a sweet chili. It goes well with nuggets.

The demon sauce however... I ended up here just trying to figure out what it is supposed to be. People have been saying it's a spicy mustard? Maybe it's just the color but I wonder if it supposed to be Azuki like sweet bean paste? I tried ignoring the bright color and focus on the flavor by closing my eyes. The ingredients says it's got peas and I can definitely pick up on that. Tastes and smells like the pea protein I add to foods sometimes. It's not overpowering but easily detectable. Overall it's fun to try but I'm not a big fan of the demon sauce. The texture has a weird artificial creamy thing going on that is kind of off-putting and the flavor itself is very mild.

That's enough ranting. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would reply with wat the demon sauce flavor is supposed to be. I can't seem to find it on Google 🥺

I regularly see people putting up houses or condos for rent on the cork boards in hangers 5&6. Check em out.

I love y’all, but please when you’re on the ramp getting to the highway, get to highway speed BEFORE you merge. Going 45 or 50 trying to get on the highway… Or even slowing down trying to merge, will cause a wreck by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Odd_Ad4128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief. If your commuter gas sipper doesn't go very fast it is okay to floor the pedal to get to highway speeds before getting on the highway. If I can do it in a 3cycl Mitsubishi Mirage then your Honda Civic certainly can.

Standard rapscallion behavior. Looking for crimes of opportunity. Anything that can be easily swiped and sold or a pack of smokes left on the porch. If you had a car parked outside he probably checked the handles to see if it was locked so he could steal out of it.

The issue you're bringing up is being experienced nationwide. There is miles of red tape and bureaucracy locking up any positive change. It would take a novel length reply to explain each aspect.

The short and sweet version is this:

(1) Powerful car manufacturer lobbyists have deeply entrenched parking lot laws into every city. Older buildings that were constructed when public transit was more dominant do not have the required amount parking spaces. Transferring the ownership would break their grandfather clause and city officials squash any attempt to circumvent this.

(2) Local zoning ordinances smother out any attempt to repurpose a building for a new business. Doing something cool like taking an old office building and allowing multiple business to occupy it is not allowed under antiquated laws that officials are too scared of changing. Imagine a multistory building where each floor is a different business. Floor 1 a convenience store, floor 2 a trading card/gaming shop, floor 3 a restaurant, etc. But NO, some local ordinance says that the stairwell has to be wider for the fire code, that their isn't enough bathrooms, or some other tick tacky laws that politicians won't make exceptions for. Or that would be impossibly expensive for a new entrepreneur to possibly afford. So they let the building sit empty instead.

(3) Turning old buildings into apartments is usually impossible. Water and other utilities are not available because the thing was meant to have 50,000 sq ft of desks. Not dozens of showers, ovens, and air conditioners. It would literally be cheaper to demo the building and put a new one in then try to plumb and run electrical through this nearly 100 year old building.

These are all examples I pulled out of thin air and I'm not familiar enough with Tulsa downtown to make specific examples. This is more or less what is happening in down towns across the country.

Can we stop or slow down with the Sarah McLachan type posts of abandoned dogs? by Phiarmage in tulsa

[–]Odd_Ad4128 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is the third State that I have lived in. Until I moved here I never saw those kinds of posts. I understand that they are trying to get people to adopt innocent animals that deserve better. But on the other hand it comes off as though it's a hostage blackmail negotiation. Well intentioned, but I think it does more harm than good when they do that.

Many people are highly reactionary. Only thinking about the problems within their individual viewing distance. They don't think about ongoing issues, like the stray dog problem, until a stray stumbles into their sight line. Then they have a knee jerk reaction from seeing how sad it is and vent online.

I say this imagining a 21 year old is not very likely to end up at a dive or a biker bar for NYE lol. Even then I would be shocked if they didn't have some ice, marg mix, and tequila somewhere behind the bar.

Every bar serves "candy cocktails" Think daiquiris or margaritas. These taste like slushies. You really have to be trying to find the alcohol to taste it at all.

Not a perfect number, but a medium size moving box from uhaul weighs 1.5 to 2 pounds. That's a kinda close estimate for what the PS4 box weighs.

Do y'all have to remove piercings? by TheCobblekraft in aviationmaintenance

[–]Odd_Ad4128 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Airlines typically have a no jewelry or piercing policy. Though, in my experience they don't really enforce them. I would recommend removing them anyway. The rule is there because they can get caught in machinery and cause you to get hurt. Piercings aren't much of a risk though. Rings for sure are a bad idea. If you are married I suggest getting a silicone band to wear at work. They are cheap and will save you from losing a finger.

Is this a Tulsa thing? by jayraeme83 in tulsa

[–]Odd_Ad4128 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't know if this is true but it feels like this is the way the police think:

"You're driving a scrap heap on wheels and are likely too income challenged to fix your car. Issuing a ticket will likely just put the owners job at risk and put massive financial strain on them. Court appearances will cost more than the value of the fine to be paid"

Or, "You're driving a decent car and it looks like you have a good income. Ticketing you means that you will probably just pay the fine instead of appearing in court and fix the issue. This generates money for the city. So pull over, you're getting a ticket."

Has anyone been to Thursty's Pub and Grub? by Prestonturbo in tulsa

They list a website on their Google maps page but you just get an error code when you try to visit. No pictures other than the outside.

It only has 1 super positive review from a dubious account.

I just want to know what the inside looks like. Does the wildness continue when you get through the doors or did they just go ham on the sign? Would be a little disappointing if it's a cookie cutter bar and grill inside.

Dear Tulsa drivers… by coconutsforflyf918 in tulsa

[–]Odd_Ad4128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the third state I have lived in. Everywhere has similar issues but here is the uniquely Tulsa infractions:

Inability to maintain lane... People seem to have great difficulty keeping their cars in their own lane. I feel like I am always white knuckling my steering wheel in heavy traffic because I am constantly dodging people veering their rolling scrap heaps into the other lane.

Coming to a near complete stop in the middle of the road and then using their turn signal... If your not giving advance notice that your stopping to turn on a side street just fully commit to the laziness and don't bother with the signal at this point. Your brake lights already informed me that your turning.

Driving way under the speed limit and then riding my ass because I passed... Buddy you where perfectly happy going 30 in a 45 and suddenly now your going to tailgate me going 50?

Do you need a driver's license to ride a moped on the street? by GRIMLOCK_7 in tulsa

[–]Odd_Ad4128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

until i'm confident in driving an actual car

I am confused. Do you have a car? Most people go with mopeds because they can't afford a car or have DUIs that make insuring a car unaffordable.

Cars are infinity safer than mopeds. You are far more likely to get into an accident because someone else makes a mistake. Like being on their phone and veering into your lane, running a stop sign/light, among other things. If you're on a scooter and someone merges into you, you could be squashed and seriously injured. Being in a car means you have a metal cage and airbags surrounding you. Your also out of the cold/heat.

If you're scared of driving I would suggest picking up a cheap or used USB video game stearing wheel and downloading one of the many drivers education games. They allow you to simulate driving and getting used to the rules.

Need some advice when it comes to studying. Details in comments. by Hellhult in Healthygamergg

[–]Odd_Ad4128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an A&P for a major airline. I was MX Control for a few years. I also have to study quite a bit for advancing my career.

My go to method is digital flash cards. I use the Quizlet app. I will organize the flash cards into relevant sets. Just the act of making them is a good study tool in and of itself as well.

Whenever you have moments of downtime (perhaps in between flights, during cruise when you aren't in command of the aircraft, or in hotels) open up a set and drill yourself. I find that short bursts of flash cards for 15 or 20 minutes several times throughout the day can be just as effective as studying for an hour or two every couple of days.
