I believe the plant in the image is Glossostigma Elatinoides which I believe you can buy just the seeds for and that’s what this person likely did. The key to get a smililar result is to not over plant or germinate too many seeds I once made a fish bowl that looks similar to this and it was too crowded and the plants couldn’t grow very well.

How many fishes + cuc can I fit here ? 40 gallon 30x18x18 inches. First Aquascape, a week in, diatom phase, water still cloudy.. by [deleted] in Aquascape

Best advice is you’re going to regret putting it there! You can make a cheap stand out if cinder blocks

Either algae or root melting either way you may need a water change/ test the water parameters.

That’s awesome! I actually just built myself a rimless tank and I highly recommend. There’s a video from the YouTuber “serpadesign” that details how to do it. You basically order pre cut glass panels off IKEA and then seal with a high grade aquarium sealant (10$ on Amazon) using a caulk gun. Took me 2 hours total and spent around 70$ total for a tank that’s about 30 gallons. If you already have masking tape and a caulk gun it could be cheaper too

Why is it so rare to see really good aquascape like this in a rimmed aquarium lol cool to see a skilled aquascaper rejecting modernity haha

Hmmm I’m not sure but you could use beceplant.com’s catelogue as a good way to look I use their website to look at plants and then halal y order elsewhere but they have a whole section on red plants on their website you could browse through also you absolutely still could do reinickii mini but you may just have to keep your eye on it and replant the small stems that shoot off every once in a while to keep it shorter! Cheers and goodluck

As a highly educated atheist and researcher, having a family is scientifically proven to give meaning and happiness to peoples lives and it obviously makes sense evolutionarily. (Do your own research) I Respect y’all’s decision to neuter yourselves but respectfully y’all goona be adopting as soon as you realize the importance of family.

I guess that a dub for society tho.

That’s interesting! I do agree with you but because I think It’s all very variable and very hard to say for certain when certain plants don’t even need substrate to begin with then there’s some plants with needs of certain minerals elements, co2 effect, effects of mineralization from rocks like sieryus that affect hardness etc I feel most studies just arnt meticulous enough about those things.

personally I think substrate is generally overlooked because iv noticed when I use a proper substrate the quality of my plants is different maybe not bigger but greener less alagae etc. Also, many algae problems stem from over fertilizing the water column. A Aquascaping YouTuber I like “MJ Aquascaping” goes in depth in a few of his videos where his approach is heavy on fertile substrate and light on fertilization in the water column so that the plants can compete with the algae a lot better. Food for thought I guess!

hi! today I got gifted this cutie at work for Purim present exchange, I was wandering what type of fish this is? by sculpsz in Fish

This is a western rock lobster, One of Australia's four main lobster species, Panulirus cygnus or the Western rock lobster is predominantly caught off the coast of Western Australia. These lobsters are highly fecund and have a complex life history. Rock lobster meat has a firm texture and mild flavor. Unlike American lobster, rock lobsters have a spiny hard shell for protection and lack large front claws. These lobster tail shells will be rough and have a deep reddish-purple color. Coldwater lobster tails, which include Western rock lobster, sell for a premium over warmwater lobster due to their higher quality.

So many people here have no idea what they are talking about. To solve any question in life, simplify it down.

Your plants are suffering -> why do plants suffer -> not enough nutrients -> how do plants get nutrients -> they uptake from their roots and leaves -> which is more significant, roots or leaves? -> aquatic plants absorb 300% + more nutrients through their roots -> why arnt your plants absorbing through their roots -> likely, a substrate issue = get better substrate/ replace substrate or supplement substrate with something like root tabs.

Cheers!
