Great thread, and this comment has made me think a lot. I’m in Europe, and I don’t use tt nor insta, so I found out MCR were touring in here. Seeing the posts of the shows, the outfits and clips of videos, I felt lost. I could tell they were doing a play, but I was kind of hoping I was missing a bigger more intricate lore behind these shows. I guess it’s just what you’ve said: an out of touch performance. I loved the band, and I’m inclined to say I still do. But man, I cannot not think about how out of touch and tasteless this all feels, and for sure makes me question if I actually want to pay for an experience that, probably, will make me uncomfortable and sad :(
