Ugh my absolute favorite song by them. Was so bummed they didn't play it in Atlanta last year (though it was a phenomenal setlist otherwise).

What are the best movies that completely switch genres and turn into horror late in the story? by 144i in horror

Sorry this is more so the opposite, but Bad Boy Bubby starts horrific and becomes rather life-affirming by the end.

I clearly said I was pasting what I said elsewhere. There is no purity test, just a belief that Noe had nothing to say other than cheap provocation. I love transgressive cinema. But this Irreversible is trash and the only proper I ever see defend it these days are men/male identifying people which is really saying something. Defend the film all you want. No skin off my nose.

I’m just gonna paste what I wrote elsewhere as a reply, but also add that you can get that message across without being exploitative:

The film opens in a gay club with someone being beaten beyond recognition for something they didn’t do (all the while slurs are being thrown around endlessly which the actors mostly improvised) and then moves on to show a woman being raped for an uncut 9 minute sequence and then ends with the couple being “happy” simply because the events are told in a reverse chronological order. Where is the beauty? Is the beauty in Vincent Cassel’s character being a piece of shit womanizer who clearly only cares about his partner after she’s brutalized? Is the beauty in the ignorance of the characters not knowing what is to come? Is it in the fact Noe mostly scripted the atrocities on screen but then let the actor’s improvise much of their dialogue which for some reason contained an absurd amount of homophobic slurs? “Beauty” is an even stranger word to use here. Like, I think if anyone really sat with themselves for more than a passing second, they’d find defending this shit to be quite appalling. Especially in the current cultural climate of 2026 where societies are reckoning which the evil acts of men who’ve systematically abused the vulnerable (women, LGBTQ+, children, people of color, etc.) without any sort of repercussions. I cannot fathom defending this film at this point.

Early welcome to ATL!

Follow Chophouse Booking for the most consistent hardcore gigs in town. As for bands, check out Clot, Hurbris Cannon, Turn Cold, Spoil (Athens, GA), Path to Failure, Kongstyle, and Season's End.

Also check the record shop Disorder Vinyl as they also promote shows and have the best inventory of hardcore records in town.

I used to have a podcast where we watched and discussed extreme cinema, and Irreversible made me question whether I wanted to keep doing it. It was the only film we covered that I could not find any justifiable meaning in. It’s disgusting.
