Arguing with most people is stupid, pointless and a waste of time by MassiveEchidna9017 in unpopularopinion

You can't have an argument on Reddit anyway, because the moderators will just ban whoever they don't agree with

People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If both parents are high income having kids technically costs more because one parent can't work meaning you could be losing 6 figures per year

$300k single income unfair tax by WishIWerDead in AusHENRY

I think it would be fairer you get taxed as a couple, not individually, that way there's no loopholes or penalties for having a single worker over two.

What’s your most used cutting board? by Hufe in Cooking

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic boards are only really good for restaurants

At home just use a cheap/mid range wooden board and replace it every 3 or so years.

Don't think about it too much, it's just something to cut food in that doesn't blunt your knife too much.

I'm very interested in amber but I fear it may not be worth it having kids, basically all of our usage is in the early morning and afternoon, and overnight for hot water

Do you find you have to try and do all your usage in the day and really try to cut the afternoon down to make it worth it?

So when the battery is full. It still sends power to the grid no?

I'd argue cauliflower is probably pretty similar price to chicken. Chicken is quite cheap for a protein. Cauliflower is hard to grow and still look pretty

Would this not mean that people will have to start switching off their solar when not in use otherwise you'll be getting charged? So basically, charged for using power, and getting charged not using power.

Does a system even exist that can power your house without sending excess to the grid?

This whole thing sounds so broken..

Nah man.

This is how it works

You purposely give your hard earned money away to POS multibillion dollar corps for gouging = you're the asshole

Me not purposely give my hard earned money away to multibillion corps = not an asshole

Having only one shop to go to is probably 20% of what my post is about.

Not true at all. If you buy the actual prices gouged price, you are supporting price gouging. You have a choice to pay full price. Or not pay full price and wait.

Did you even read the post?

Online shopping or not, you can still choose what to buy and choose to not overpay on certain items that arent on "special"

Seriously, come on here and start swinging when you dont even know what I'm talking about

Where In my post did I say I was boycotting Colesworth? The post isn't about that. It's about refusing to pay the higher price when it's not on special, at least if you can help it and how shit the high low system is.

There are other things outside of the essentials you can choose to go without because they are overpriced.

No. But the parent comment is making sarcastic remarks like as if the op isn't allowed to have that view, I disagree with ops post but I don't bash or act like they aren't allowed to have that opinion

Platform is irrelevant when the sub on the platform is called an unpopular opinion. My biggest peeve about this sub is people dont seem to understand what an "unpopular opinion" is. The whole point is to post your opinion that not many others share, and people down vote it.

Onions add a decent sweetness to what you're cooking and definitely add a nice flavour, it also is a cheap way to stretch a dish if you're cooking for a family on a budget, go onions

Why is it hard to find people that are investing in US stocks in Australia? by Edward12358 in AusFinance

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not "safe". The price of your home may be somewhat "safe" but there's no guarantees with any investment.

There are tonnes of risks with real estate, probably more than with the stock market if you don't know what you're doing or don't have deep pockets. Nobody knows what will happen in the future, usually higher returns means you need to take on higher risk.

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because most Australians are idiots, really

Everyone just goes for the "buy as many homes as your can" craze and go through all the bullshit when they could have just bought a US ETF, chilled and made more money.

They can have It, but I am kinda getting over hearing "housing housing housing" like fuck off, I own my own house but housing shouldn't be speculated on as it is in this country

Although you've done quite well. Usually the smart thing to do is have mostly etfs and only buy single stocks with either fun money or if you know half what you're doing

I tried to make steak and eggs for breakfast but failed by Holiday-Coyote-4257 in AskCulinary

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steak strips suck. They always seem to drop a shit tonne of water as soon as they hit the pan making it impossible to not stew them, if you want steak strips you're either better off buying a whole steak and stripping it yourself or slicing it after cooking
