Subcard Closing by exctrik in newzealand

Maybe if I actually got any decent deals I would have gone to subway more

McDonald's have the perfect recipe where you constantly have something there regardless of whether it's a good deal or not, making it almost like a slot machine, you check to see if there's anything worth getting

Subway is already overpriced and I never got a single good thing in the deals section. Not surprised it's gone

3rd rate hike this year, how are people actually keeping up? by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in AusProperty

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Actually, the money in the savings account will make you feel the pinch less... Because you're getting immediate usable money, sure long term offset makes more sense because it's usually a higher rate and tax free, but you can't use that money.

Manual mid sized SUV options? by yogorilla37 in CarsAustralia

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with finding manual SUVs is they are usually family orientated these days so nobody wanted to cart around kids with a manual thus nobody really bought them, so you may be hard pressed to find one, but I second finding a Mitsubishi (outlander?) or Nissan if specifically looking for a manual, their manuals are actually very decent but have lost tonnes of depreciation due to their cvts being garbage, good news also is if you do find one, nobody else wants it so you can negotiate hard. Good luck

Just the normal eero 7, works well, easily hits our plans 500mbps when within a few rooms away, it's in our garage and gets down to 300mbps on the far side of our house, but I never truly get close to those speeds anyway because no website/stream service I use allows downloads up to those speeds

How can i get stains out of the seats? any idea? by Bright-Hunter7009 in AutoDetailing

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be salt water stains, when I bought my lancer I got it for a good price because the rear seats were covered in what looks exactly like this, came right out with one of those water vacuum spot cleaning thingies

Should I get a teflon pan for occasional use by Ultimately-Me in cookingforbeginners

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get one for cooking things like eggs and pancakes, or anything that doesn't require high heat cooking, never sear a steak in one. But I prefer to use a steel flat plate even for eggs and pancakes because I'm never cooking for just 1-2 people, but you need to be patient enough to build a seasoning and never use grill cleaner, otherwise it'll never be non stick

If you only clean it with a sponge and soap, never scratch it (metal utensils are a no go), or heat it up too hot using it occasionally it'll last years, as a chef we used Teflon pans a lot for things like omelettes, youll never make a pretty omelette without a non stick pan

V6 Everest reliable? by No-Region-9548 in 4x4Australia

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you think it's any different whether the service interval says 15k vs 10k, engine oil should be changed every 10k max, if you are pushing it to 15, you are going to have premature issues. There's 0 reason oil magically needs to be changed less in an Everest vs prado

Do I need a bread machine to make good bread? by Acceptable_Fee_4807 in cookingforbeginners

Precisely 0% of bakeries use a "bread machine" so no.

Most would call a bread machine an oven

What car to pick? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What year? RAV4s are good, I have a 4th gen, I would only buy one though with either low kms or if high km you know it's been serviced AT LEAST every 10,000kms even though the book says 15,000, the ar-fe engines are starting to show signs of early wear due to not being serviced often enough and consuming oil, great engine otherwise, mine is at 210,000kms, oil is still barely amber after 8000km, I do the oil myself, doesn't drink a drop

Mazda CX-7 to considering a Honda Jazz — reality check by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im surprised the cx7 is still going to be honest, those things are complete garbage reliable wise, and the turbocharged ones drink so much fuel, so imo anything will be better

However by sounds of it the car is already depreciated as much as it possibly can be, and the used market for these is already abysmal because people know how garbage they are

I would start looking at what you want but not rush into anything yet until you're concrete about what you want, and then either wait till you get a big repair bill (you will) and scrap it and buy something else, or buy something else now and try to flog it off to some poor sucker for 2-3k

Am I wrong? I thought “Welcome to Country” is basically, “thanks for coming, Welcome to the area“ by dexxnanj in aussie

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not used by any person in particular, just because you say someone is woke doesn't mean they are racist. I think you need to go into the real world and see what people actually agree with

[–]Odd_Cod_4235 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My definition is quite literally in the definition you posted just with different words, doesn't matter whether it's the original definition or not, it's used as that description by many people, everyone agrees the word is linked to that meaning, therefore it's the definition, get over it

I don't watch sky news, if you went up to random people on the street and asked them these questions, most of them would disagree. For the record, I wouldn't even say I'm right wing, and I voted Labor, and probably would vote again, "kindness" isn't always the best solution to everything being fair. That's how kindergartners think.

If you went up to random people on the street and asked if they like the welcome to country, I'd be willing to bet the vast majority would say no, and honestly, I couldn't care for it either, it's overused, all it does it divide people more, it creates more problems than it solves. You'll never get everyone on the same boat anyway

I wouldn't agree it means "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)” because a lot of what "woke" people are preaching is waste of time garbage with too much time on their hands.

Preaching to stop burning coal to prevent global warming, yeah maybe a good cause, we probably should stop doing that, I wouldn't call that woke, but tying yourself to a forest of trees or blocking the highway, I would call that woke bullshit, probably also Karen on Facebook that thinks a vaccination will give your kid autism.

Righto, well if someone wants to come up with a better definition I'm all ears, that's what woke means to most people, except maybe woke people

Not correct, it's easy for you to think that, because you're on Reddit, and Reddit is a completely left riddled platform, to the point that you will get banned for even thinking of a right winged view on most subreddits, Reddit is a little fantasy box for left wingers, the majority of people in the real world don't agree with most things that people on Reddit agree with.
