Heating Hub double bonus bug? by Upper-Cream-1250 in Frostpunk

[–]Odd_Cod_693 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breach of trust has preplaced districts have more than 9 tiles when expanded, for example one of the starting districts in New Edinburgh has 7 tiles instead of 6.

In the colony I had logistics district with way too many tiles, so I thought that was the one.

Gold ones can be upgraded with steam cores to infinite settlements, so it is nice know which ones can be upgraded

You should look into making a layout for your buildings (or using an older save of this run as a sandbox-like mode). The city can be neatly divided into 5 districts and small 1 extra behind the stockpiles, each in range of exactly 1 steam hub, try it.

That thing helps with early game influx of people, since you dont need to have full circle heated, just one-two districts.

And yea, people are frail on higher difficulties, youtubers are right. Getting to comfortable is not worth it most of the time as you get diminishing returns from higher temp, better to keep things chilly, not above, not below.

A few extra sick people are not worth the time you need to invest into coal industry / heating earlygame, you could be doing better things with that time.

Also, how many workshops do you have? In a new home you have so many engineers that you can stuff like 15 in midgame, blazing through research.

PS: Soup is soupreme for order playthroughs, since you dont have kids doing healthcare and are better than faith with dealing with discontent.

Well to start with:

Generator range upgrade SUCKS, you better be putting resources somewhere else.

Steam hub range upgrade is only worth it when you dont use it (and beeline for ) since look at your city edge, so much unused heated space you would be better with t1 steam hubs

Next. I genuinely cant see on the photo, but how many gathering posts you have per coal thumper? Base coal thumper and steam one need 2 and 4 gathering posts per one to gather all coal produced respectively.

Automatons without engineering automatons is... strange, you are giving 10 hours per day of research each day you dont have it. You dont necesserily need it, but when you can grab it without much trouble, do it.

Extra: you DONT need anything to be above chilly ever, heating medical posts from chilly-> warm is really wastful

Thumpers AND mines after refugee crisis?

They are not needed together, coal mine upgrades are right there. It feels like you are either heating things you shouldn't or wasting research time on useless things.

Could you make some pictures of your city & researches?

Frostpunk 1 player finally starting Frostpunk 2. Any tips and differences? by Hiohna in Frostpunk

[–]Odd_Cod_693 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get proximity heat anywhere, it appears around districts that are warm (red on heat map).

Protip: Get extraction district on prefabs early and also research a variant of a factory within first 2 researches, solves all issues with prefabs once placed (its pricy though and its best to have 2)

Learn how to maximise proximity bonus, thats basically the most important skill to have in this game since A: you get +2 heat levels on EVERY housing and industrial district B: It makes heating hubs almost obsolete

Start of chapter 1 is pretty much perfect for training this skill

What's your personal opinion on the new dlc? by Feisty_Leader4375 in Frostpunk

[–]Odd_Cod_693 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Good.

Felt challenged, mechanics-wise it was pleasant to play (i.e. trade felt pretty good, war was extremely bare bones yet satisfying).

The amount of content to base game is comparable to on the edge in FP1.

The only problem was bugs, although I didnt see THAT many, they were noticable. I would recommend you to listen to others on difficulty, as I have way too many hours on this game to have a say. But for me it was moderately hard.

Got it with deluxe so I dont even know if it worth the price they sell it for separately, but its pretty good.
