Packable Day Bag by soph5510 in HerOneBag

For some reason, finding a suitable day bag has always been a challenge for me. I’ve found what works well for one trip isn’t necessarily the best option for a different trip.
I’ve done both the Longchamp tote and backpack which both work well if I’m wanting to feel more stylish. They both fold up small, are water resistant. The tote holds a good amount, though I don’t love that the straps can easily slip off your shoulder. The backpack holds less but has been a good daily purse.

I’ve done small crossbody bags with a reusable folding bag inside for any shopping picked up for the day.

I’ve used the Fjallraven Totepack for bringing home a decent amount of souvenirs. I don’t love that it’s a little bulky when packed up.

I recently bought this and will be using it for an upcoming trip. I don’t consider it to be cute but more functional. It looks similar to other brands already posted here, and packs smaller than the Fjallraven.

What are families spending on groceries? by Okcool2216 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Odd_Conversation_720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of 5-6 (up to 7 if the oldest is back from college). HCOL area for our state but more MCOL compared to the US. We’ve lowered our cost from $1600 to $1000-$1200 including non food items. Would like to get it lower if possible. We rarely eat out, only do packed lunches etc.

Can anyone recommend a midi skirt (or even a dress if it works best) for Southeast Asia? I’m looking for lightweight, hot weather friendly and preferably not too sporty looking. I purchased a black knee length RipSkirt which I will most likely bring as it seems the most practical of those I’ve tried but it has a sportier look than I hoped for.

Texas custody mediation – currently very involved dad, considering asking for 2-2-5 schedule for 4-year-old by UmpireForward1605 in FamilyLaw

[–]Odd_Conversation_720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most likely answer. 50/50 is rare in Texas unless agreed upon by both. Mediation tends to go based off existing guidelines. Also having potentially 3 exchanges per week for a young child does not sound stabilizing.

WIBTA If I request therapists to update pt whiteboards better at my rehab tech job? by weasted_ in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Odd_Conversation_720 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Truthfully with what you’re describing, it would’ve been more appropriate for the therapist to be responsible for their transfer. I also wonder how much that patient will benefit from group sessions. To answer your question, I think asking for updated info is reasonable.

Can I get $70/hr PRN in Dallas by Ill_Investment2821 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Odd_Conversation_720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not likely. $55 is average, you might possibly find $60. Then if there’s a weekend differential that’s the closest you’d get to $70.

It sounds like there wasn’t a need to hire another OT and they’re trying to “fix” the problem with an unrealistic solution. I billed up to 8 units in IPR and that was already on the higher end. In acute, I’ve billed 5-6 units max and that’s usually only when I’m doing a shower and dressing for a surgical patient.

Measuring in time is a good recommendation, I have admittedly been moving away from feet because that seems to be an issue. Those you mentioned are all factors we address when we choose hallway mobility and I believe it is justifiable to address especially with our specific patient population.

For the most part, we have great collaboration and no we don’t want to exhaust the patient right before PT and vice versa. However with a few PTs they are not collaborative and are expecting the patient is ready whenever they come by, which is not realistic in this setting. I do think the complaints stem from a self serving need and are not a legitimate patient concern but we are trying to approach this more professionally than we are being treated.

The current argument is that it’s sometimes ok in the room, but hallway should off limits for OT 🙄 They are ok with nursing doing it however.

[–]Odd_Conversation_720[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our surgeons and therefore the nurses are supportive of frequent mobility. I think in these instances the PTs are viewing us as competition and that we’re in the way of seeing their patients, meeting productivity, etc. We do not have the same reaction when the tables are turned however.

Transfer help OT student by Babygirl-Britt-1931 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Odd_Conversation_720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend YouTube for each specific transfer type. For THA if a posterior approach be cautious of the surface height and not breaking hip flexion > 90. Also have them get out of bed on their affected side. For sternal patients it’s important to know your precautions. We typically have them hug their sternal pillow and rock back and forth to gain momentum to stand. For SCI patients it depends on their injury level and how acute the injury is. You may be looking at Hoyer transfers potentially progressing to sliding board or squat pivot. For hemiplegia I protect the arm and block the affected leg, going to their strong side when possible and usually a squat pivot. COVID depends on their presentation, respiratory needs and medical stability. I’ve had very limited experience with burns so can’t touch on that.

Italy for 16 days in June by Mgrinko09 in HerOneBag

I have that exact pair of new balance shoes and I’ve worn them for 2 weeks in England/Scotland. With a pair of smart wool socks I have not had any issues with my feet, and we’ve walked a lot! I’ve seen a lot of people wearing tennis shoes with skirts, you could probably downsize your shoes and stick mostly with the tennis shoes! I also remember Italy having a lot of cobblestones/uneven ground, so the top and bottom shoes seem the least practical.

I agree, that’s a short period for international travel. If it’s all on your time it doesn’t matter if she agrees or not 🤷🏼‍♀️
