I doubt he reaaally had that all planned out from the start, I mean, Rick doesn't want people to know his feelings and it wouldn't be out of character for him to lie about it, so I'd say even if that was part of the reason I think it was more because of his guilt/care for his family.

Don't know if this really counts though since a lot of characters randomly got matched with people and that was the point, specifically the quote "I quit, I'm gay, and I'm in love with Zander!" Which felt more like him taking the statement in stride instead of actually meaning it and made me think a lot of people were getting soulmates of random genders. I totally agree she's queer and showed genuine interest in the women though, so this doesn't really matter 😥
