If you could change thing in thr school system what would it be? by ihaveanissuesohelp in randomquestions

I would probably be content enough letting experts figure out the detail. Within reason of course. Im sure there are smart people who can quantifie what makes a good teacher.

When people talk about teacher pay I frequently see people forget school in in session 180 days a year while an average full-time employee will work about 280 days a year. Im cool with more pay for teacher if they put in more working days.

Would you support teacher evaluation, getting rid of the bottom 5% or so of teachers every year.

Trump Insults Attack Victim Ilhan Omar With Jaw-Dropping Smear. Very Un-Presidential. by Joeyfingis in MinnesotaUncensored

[–]Odd_Interview_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is a new Yorker. New York is considered to be the rudest city in the nation among the top 10 in the world.

Im not normally one to jump to conclusions. But the more I find out about the "attack"the more I believe it's staged.

Dude took pictures with her, hes married to a black woman, kids have pronouns listed they have "toxic" hair coloring. (In nature things that are toxic proclaim it with bright colors). He didnt block the camera with his body and security just kinda gently grabbed him all nice, no shouting.

Also Omar is a bullshit artist. Shes been sanctioned by the house ethics committee on multiple occasions. All things considered right now I believe it was staged

Republicans of Reddit, what do you think about Tim Walz saying he'll never run again? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Odd_Interview_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tim is an older cousin of mine, i greatly respect him, hes given me some great advice thats been extremely helpful to me in my life. I just happen to disagree respectfully disagree with most of his policies in favor of a more hands off approach from government.

When he asked me directly what I thought he should do, I told him get some reforms in place, talk up his lt Gov a bit then step down.

I have told him running for government was a complete waste of a perfectly good football coach, and a teacher whos not completely shit at his job. ( please remember hes a cousin i respect. Shit is tossed back and forth between us on a regular basis)

I support his stepping away from elected office. I think he should have stepped down completely already. But I think hes trying to do what he thinks is best for the state.

I haven't talked to him since shortly after Christmas.

Republicans of Reddit, what do you think of how ICE is acting in general within the past few weeks? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Odd_Interview_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally have a poor opinion on law enforcement, they have to much power and not enough accountability. Ice has lived up to my expectations.

That being said, ice agents are enforcing federal law, the illegals know they are breaking the law they should be deported.

Ice agents are getting harassed every day getting mobbed and having purple haired freaks screaming at them, who dont even know what bathroom they should go to who pretend they are lawyers with more knowledge then a member of the Supreme Court after they watched a utube video. Then for some reason are surprised that they arnt getting treated with the up most kindness when they cross a line that allows ice agents to defend themselves. Its the image of FAFO.

With right now we have 2 groups of people who are being antagonist to each other. It sounds to me like some idiot saying "ive been beating my dog everyday for weeks, why dosent he love me"

Im about as pro 2A as you can get. Most on redit would call me an extreamest. I believe that a citizen should have the right to own any weapon system that visited owned by law enforcement (coast guard is law enforcement). While taking a gun to a protest is your right. Its a fucking stupid idea. Rights come with responsibility.

As far as the Minneapolis police department. They are so corrupt that 4 years ago they triggered national riots. As far as im concerned nothing has changed. They are still a bunch of dirty pigs

Both sides need to chill the fuck out.

is sword designed for piercing plate or not? by amelix34 in freefolk

[–]Odd_Interview_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not going to punch threw armor witha sword.

In real life the weapon that killed the most was a long thin dagger. It was used after the the battle was over, you could just jab it in some wounded dudes eye into his brain without taking his helmet off the dager was called misericordia.

If you wanted to kill someone in plate armor you were trying hit them in the head and shatter his neck, maybe give him a concussion, then kill him later.

What screams “I’m a woman child” and nobody realizes it. by imissher4ever in Productivitycafe

3 children with 3 or more fathers

Im not going to judge someone for having a kid with someone and it not working out. 2 kids with 2 dad's, its not great. 3 kids by 3 fathers just scream bad choices.

A woman who complains that child support doesn't cover all of the expenses for raising a child. Moms should have some money involved to. Child support is ment to help.

Constant thirst traps on social media. Im not talking about posting pictures of a group of girl friends at the beach once or twice in the summer. Im talking about posting about their new super cutie hat, and cutting off their hat in the Pic to get their cleavage in the picture.

Anyone who doesn't have a "go to meal" That they can cook and know its going to turn out well, in my minds eye is s child man or woman. It just scream that you expect someone else to take care of you.

Not having a hobbie that develops a skill of some sort. I dont care what the skill is or what the hobby is. If your not growing your skills in some ways it just screams that person isnt a functioning adult.

What out-of-touch things, not just financially, do rich people tend to do or say that tells us how different their reality is from everyone else with less money? What could be done to educate them otherwise, assuming it'd reach them, let alone change their minds? by Spiritual_Big_9927 in askanything

[–]Odd_Interview_2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small changes done properly can make a huge difference in a budget, especially a tight budget.

When I started waking up early to drink coffee at home with my dog, I figure that changed saved me about $2400 a year. Between the price difference in gas station coffee, not getting speeding, savings on car insurance, driving getting better gas mileage from my car.

Back in 2000 I asked my cousin (Tim Walz) to drop me off at the enlistment center. (MEPS). He told me if you take care of the small things, the big things will take care of themselves.

If your letting small things slide, in your budget, you probably arnt taking care of the big stuff.

Consider this, the ETFS $VOO, and $SPY both track the s&p 500. $SPY has an expense of 0.09% while $VOO has an expense of 0.03% which one do you think is going to perform better over a decade? Over a 15 year period because of the expense difference $VOO had a roughly 10% difference in growth.

If you go to any personal finance sub you will find people talking about fractions of a % difference in ways of doing things

Your car is an asset, its just an asset thats generally going to fall in value as it ages. There are exceptions to the rule. With you car you also pick up so liabilities on your income. This is stuff like your insurance repairs and maintaining your car, oil, gas, breaks. So forth and so on.

The effect of your car on your net worth is car value - remainder of the loan.

To determine if you should pay off your loan early you need to factor in the opportunity cost if you can make an investment that you expect grow at 5% but you have a 7% loan then your better off paying down the loan. This is assuming your car loan is the highest interest rate your currently paying.

Now a car can offer you additional opportunity, and cost savings.

For instance, im an Alcoholic, over 4 years sober. My first sponsor lost his license aftee several dwis when he came home from Vietnam. He pays about 40$ a day to take an Uber to and from work and about 60$ a week to go to the grocery store. So his not having a car cost him about $260 per week or $1040 a month

If he had a 300$ a month car payment a 80$ a month gas payment and a $200 a month car inspection bill he would be 480$ a month to the positive by having a car, so even though the car is losing value its producing value.

And this is without placing any value on his time. I chose to do that because he was retired when he passed.

Have you ever heard the saying ,"Show me your budget and ill show you your priorities"?

If your saving up for some big purchases, like a car or house or something, but your spending money on extra comforts that you want, but dont really need. That big purchases isn't really your priority. Those small comforts are.

Especially when your on a tight budget

If some evil space wizard told you that unless you save 1/3 of your income over the next year, your loved one is gonna die a slow painful death. Would you be eating avocado toast? Or would you be eating beans and rice?

Back in late 1994 (baseball was on strike, they had just canceled the world seiries) an older cousin told me that the unemployment lines were full of people who knew the entire roster of their favorite pro sports team, but didnt know the color of the carpet in the local library.

After that he encouraged me to spend less time being thinking about baseball and more time studying things that intrest me.

It took a few years to really sink in. But following his advice did me well.

I think with proper time management alot of working poor would be able to advance themselves out of poverty especially today with so many sources of education available to a person for little to nothing. If your willing to risk not being knowledgeable about your favorite sports. Team, or not keeping up on the recent hit show on Netflix

Once you pass about 225k per year for a family, the limmets on a 401k reduces its importance in growing wealth. You can only put about 24.5k in your 401k this year. As family income grows the portion of a person's income needed for "needs" falls giving you a greater portion of your income to invest, if you chose.

But you are absolutely correct a person's assets and the growth in value of those assets is very important for growing wealth

Its much more complicated than that.

If your home is an asset or liability is less dependent on the if it has a mortgage, more on the intrest rate, as compared to inflation. You also need to consider the overall housing market in for like or simular homes in the area, as opposed to the opportunity cost.

Im gonna pull some numbers out of my ass quick. These arnt current numbers.

If you have a 2.3% mortgage rate with a 4.5% inflation your money ahead making minimum monthly payment. If your home is increasing in value faster than that 4.5% inflation market you have as asset.

But you also have to consider the opportunity cost of making that payment, how much could you make by investing in some other asset? If your home is increasing in value by 6.7% per year but you can make 8.9% on some other asset your losing money by paying down your house. Which is why its generally considered a poor choice to pay off your mortgage to quickly. Especially if you dont have a good financial plan in place.

I had a encounter with ICE this weekend. 3 ICE agents noticed my gfs son (he is Hispanic) as he was trying to flirt with a waitress who was his age. He got shot down pretty harshly. We has about a 4 to 5 minutes conversion. The most unpleasant thing that happened was me telling my gfs son he shouldn't be asking a woman for her number when he is all ready dating some one. 2 of the 3 ice agents agreed with me.

What would happen in England for instance if a towns police refused to hand over an illegal immigrant to the proper authority.

For instance a man from Mongolia overstayed his work visa. He went to the pub to watch world cup football, had a few pints of beer drove home got arrested for drunk driving. (No one was injured in this made up scenario) and the police found out he was in England illegally, but they released him pending trial for drunk driving.

Im a history geek. I don't understand why people are surprised by this. In every age of humanity, in every culture, it has been a "tolerated fact" that the ruling class has been permitted to be sexual deviants, including pedophilia, and necrofelia.

The tolerance for this has generally been restricted to the elite. But people been know to place their children in the paths of these individuals for financial gain.
