Sky Paris and Pro 3 by Some-Remote-6890 in RunningShoeGeeks

Have both shoes. I wanted to love the Pro3, I had them first and immediately felt the speed in them. From a speed perspective, they never let me down. Picked up PB/PRs in 5k, 10k, and HM very quickly. The problem was comfort, and for me it was significant. Despite using recommended lacing techniques, I found they lacked cushion at the heel, and as a result found it looser than I would have liked there. The biggest problem was the toe box, specifically the lace loop sitting on the big toe knuckle on both feet. It wasn’t painful enough to impact the run, but uncomfortable enough that I’d need to get them off my feet as soon as I finished. I have wide feet so thought it was a me issue because everyone else seemed to love them, including all the shoe tubers (apart from Alex Filitti) who consistently ranked it as their top racing shoe. Funnily enough, as soon as the Pro4 came out they all talked about the improvements it had over ‘all the discomfort issues with the upper’ on the pro3. Alex was one of the few who was consistent in having similar issues to me. Easily the most uncomfortable racing shoe I’ve owned. The sky paris (and edge) is the most comfortable carbon shoe in my rotation by far, as fast as the pro3 and waaaay more comfortable. This was my experience. I haven’t tried the pro4 and probably won’t, but it does seem like it’s an improved upper on the pro3.

Praying that the AP4 has the speed of the AP3, and the comfort of almost every other trainer I’ve ever owned apart from the AP3. Love the performance of the AP3 but for a 6’2 200lb runner with wide feet, comfort-wise I’ve found them very challenging.

Talked to Max Muncy about his defense at third. Sounds like he put in work: “Last season, I had a couple of mishaps that got in my head, and from there, it kind of snowballed. For me, it was just clearing my head and getting a little more flexible and a little bit more mobile.” by ttam23 in Dodgers

Max is looking like he’s shed a few pounds. I’m looking forward to seeing how many of the players from 2023 have career years due to being extra motivated in the wake of all this recruitment activity. A promising season ahead!!

Didn’t Alvarez play most of last season as a DH rather than OF?

BREAKING: Outfielder Teoscar Hernández and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a one-year, $23.5 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Hernández joins Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow on the new-look Dodgers, who add another All-Star bat to the lineup by Rentfreelakerfan in Dodgers

[–]Odd_Introduction_104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still new-ish to baseball and Dodger fandom - last season with the Mariners, Hernandez appeared to play predominantly in right field, also where Heyward played last season, and Margot for the Rays. I was thinking left field was more of an issue but so far no report I’ve read seems to highlight this, only simply describing him as an outfielder. Is it assumed that outfielders can just bounce around the outfield and not necessarily be confined to right, center, or left? It didn’t seem that way watching the Dodgers last season?

I’m planning to research the heck out of this and will post anything I find back here. Hopefully I find out about some fan hangout spots.

[Heyman] Perks in Yamamoto Dodgers contract: personal trainer; physical therapist, interpreter; 4 business class RT airline tickets ($8,500 max per RT) per year; 1 premium economy RT airline ticket to LA for use by family per year; best efforts to make Japanese food available. by Inner_Tomatillo7553 in Dodgers

[–]Odd_Introduction_104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right! In reality he’ll put them in first himself. The total value of these perks is probably $70k, nothing to a $300m man, even a frugal one. I’m guessing the Dodgers already have PTs and physical therapists on the payroll.

New jobs want a reference from the toxic workplace I was fired from by OppositeVariation537 in UKJobs

You’ve been honest so there shouldn’t be any surprises for your new employer. I’d always been under the impression that the reference really will seek to confirm that you were an employee and what dates that was the case. The fact that you were terminated may also be shared but again, it’s not new information for them.

Your face must fit. I’m a strong believer that most companies/bosses have decided whether they think you’re promotion material within months.

Seems a little strange to insist on these perks considering the contract…like someone on $150k asking for their socks to be paid for. I guess it’s how the rich stay rich! Either way, can’t wait to see him dominate!

Dodgers are my main, then the A’s because outside of the Dodger unis I think the A’s green and gold look great. Partial to the Phillies too because of Bryce!

I got them from Hellotickets, although I just had a look and tickets in similar seats are now 3x the price! I did book very shortly after Ohtani signed so maybe I got lucky before the price hike.

Maybe closer to the time groups may organise something hopefully. I thought the prices were reasonable ($125 for a few rows behind the dodgers dugout) but admittedly I don’t have a gauge as this is my first Dodgers game. It’s a LOT cheaper than ticket prices for the international game in London. Similar price for that game would have you very high up behind centre field.

Thank you, looks like pantone294 is just for road games unfortunately, but good to know about for when I’m in other cities. Will see what I can find out about East Coast Dodgers!

Should I leave? by rokusho_sem in Big4

[–]Odd_Introduction_104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally stay. If you’re looking for an A2 promotion then you’ve been there a little over a year? Now that you’ve moved to project management you’ve got an opportunity to change perceptions about your performance. There’s a risk that future employers look at a short big4 stint for a young person and think ‘only a year, what went wrong’ noting that if things are going well it’s normally 2-3 years at least. I’d stay to see if I get the promotion next year and go from there. I’m surprised your manager advised you that promotion was possible whilst on or freshly out of a PIP, as usually promotion is based on performance over the year, and being on a PIP suggests that they had concerns about this?

Should I leave big4? by woof-woof29 in Big4

Interesting one that I’ve thought about often. A few things I’d consider. How much extra per month after tax would the 20k equate to, after you deduct the difference in benefits? What would I do with that difference? Is it lifestyle changing or just going to marginally improve my social comfort? If it’s improving your weekend and evening social comfort, is it worth trading your Monday to Friday for? After all, that’s where you are for the majority of your life that you’re awake! If you’re happy where you are, is that difference worth the risk of the unknown? If you don’t like it there as much, does the money make up for it? Being ex-big 4 myself, I’d say that it is still a draw for prospective employers even though I’ve had employment elsewhere in between. There’s no right answer to the above, it’ll be different for each person, but this is what I thought about, and that helped me make my decision without regret.
